I know.

You're incapable of admitting you are or were (even slightly) incorrect or inaccurate.

The forum understands you and what you bring to the table. It's cute.

I miss the left-leaning political sympathising comedy. That's where you did your best work.
Hunt was signed SIX months before we released Klemmer. That’s 26 weeks 182 days. Yet, we signed Hunt to replace Klemmer. Inspector Gadget doesn’t even have that kind of reach.

You're very hung up on the order of things. I understand why, on the surface, replacements for things generally come in chronological order.

However, the world is riddled with examples of where replacements are not acquired following, but rather prior, or not acquired at, as they are promoted from within. The car example is a prime example.

Also, in this context, someone can be signed on as an addition to an incumbent player, but, over time, can become the replacement to that player if the landscape changes.

Lachlan Galvin hasn't been signed as the replacement for Sexton. Yet, if Sexton does indeed leave and the Dogs decide that Galvin is best played at halfback, he will effectively become the replacement for Sexton.

If you want to get REALLY technical:

May replaced Stef in the starting side.
Pole replaced Klemmer in starting side.
Hunt replaced Pole on the bench.

Or.

May replaced Stef in the starting side.
Pole replaced Klemmer in starting side.
Twal replaced Pole at 13.
Hunt replaced Twal on the bench.

But, to simplify it, using language that the forum would generally use; two outgoing props in the 17 were replaced by two incoming props in the 17.

Anyway. This discussion is dead now.

Hunt isnt a replacement for Klemmer. I was under the impression that he was brought in to compliment Dave.
Klem didnt have the impact, but he got through his tackles and put the time in. He also provided experience and mentorship off the field. Hunt was bought to add a bit of starch off the bench for 20 or so minutes. Their numbers comparison:

Yes and then we let Dave go without any further replacement. It boggled my mind then as it still does now. Pole goes down and our forwards turn into easy beats. Why someone like Richo left us so lean up front is beyond me, especially as forward packs are the ones who win matches.

Fair enough - I think he's done pretty well with the squad. While the first 17 is first-grade level, there's some issues with depth.
The squad, I mean heck he has done great. I cannot knock any of our 2025 signings.

It's things like "gameplan", i.e. us relying on Api's brillance vs Souths and our attack going nowhere.

Melbourne, meh we would loose that match anyway. But Souths should have been our game and it wasn't and our tries were very very flukey.

I am really scared that Benji is relying on attacking feel, instead of actual structured attack.

Look, I have whatever criticisms of Benji as a coach.

But to say he "won't be able to get the best out of any player" is total rubbish.

Even someone like Jason Taylor got Lawrence to transition to the front row. Madge was way too tough, but Twal certainly improved under him. Were seeing Luai and others add some attacking elements to their game. It's clear the Galvin thing has derailed us badly...

Benji may be gone by 2026. But a stack of players will be improving under him.
Time will tell in the end.
Twal would not make any other starting side and would be lucky to grab a bench spot.
Under Benji can you please name any player that has improved to a standard that can make a Rep side, NSW or QLD teams.............. i think not ??

As always, I appreciate the effort in collecting the data.

But there was no mention of Royce being a like-for-like replacement. That's not my argument.

The numbers indicate their output or role is different in terms of how they are used.

But they play the same position, for the same club.

Stef and Terrell also have very styles, outputs and are used differently as well, though, it would be hard to argue that Terrell was not the replacement of Stefano.

Two props left, two came in. Ergo, the two who came in are the replacements for the ones who left, even if their games or how they're used are different.

To use the car analogy again, if I own a Mazda 2, buy a new Ranger to replace it as my primary vehicle, then sell my Mazda 2, the Ranger is, pretty clearly, the replacement vehicle, even if they present differently, have different engines, drivetrains, or are designed for different purposes, etc.
I don’t see how it’s difficult to get. The decision to let Klemmer go would have been based on numerous factors, one of those being that we had signed another prop.

Do people expect us to not name anyone in that jersey when we release someone?? The recruitment puzzle is ever evolving and the fact we have wiggle room and money is a positive.

I’m no coach or expert, but to my untrained eye the team seems to use the same tactics and game plan every week regardless of who we are playing. I get that all teams have a style and an overall template for how they want to play, but surely the game plan needs to adapt each week based on breaking down your opposition, targeting their weak spots and covering ours. Is Benj the tactical gameplan mastermind? He probably wasn’t as a player. He was an eyes up, brilliant instinctive guy who could do things and see things that most players just can’t. We don’t have the most talented squad, nor much depth, so we only way we consistently beat the better rosters is to out-gameplan them and have the players drilled enough to execute. We need a tactical, gameplan guru as an assistant coach. Someone like Brian Smith was, or Warren Ryan was for example.

I really think Galvin being there has ruined the mojo. When Latu is back we’ll see a different team.

Richo needs to standup right now and get momentum back.

Actions and leadership is needed.

We have had more outgoings in the last 6mths than inbound. Our squad isn’t stronger. Also keep in mind those inbound were signed prior to some releases of outgoings as such NRL approved the cap space etc so we have a heap of cash.

As it stands zero new faces announced for next year let alone anything to replace those that were NRL level that have left this year.

Our squad depth is diabolical and a 19yr old has potential shafted all the early season good work done. Naden is now a common name at 14, says more than enough as to how bad our depth & this squad is.

What has happened to the 500k+ transferred out for this year? Surley it wasn’t an all in strategy to keep a player who showed zero interest in staying.

We were promised actions speak louder than words, in the last few months all we have heard is words without actions.

Now is the time for Richo to stamp his authority once again and show us why he is in the top job.

I’ve been a big Richo/Benji advocate but this is inexcusable.

Should’ve made it clear the only way we’d release him early is for a player in exchange to justify the loss.

Then if we couldn’t come to an agreement, potentially a transfer fee option could’ve made sense.

Curran, Sitili T, or Hayes

Potentially even a young half for a young half in Mitchell Woods.

Gus 1
Richo 0

I still have faith in Richo but this is a very bad look.
you said yourself that everything has been shit at the club since this saga started why drag it out any longer just to get a player we didn’t even really want anyway?

And I'm a member, and have been for quite a few years.
I reckon he's a slimmer version of a big bag of wind and doesn't give a crap about the members and fans from the WESTS MAGPIES side of Our JV.
Last year i think he was subtley indicating that eventually, the western suburbs side will "win out."

Just demographically, say in 60 years, the Balmain area is eventually going to turn into a gated community for uber rich immigrants.

Times are a changing.

In china you used to need a pass to live in some areas and maybe that will happen here.

And as @AmericanHistoryX had thought, the game could be played by robots. Mechanical versions of the storm.

Benji can have a joy stick and move players around.

FTW both sides of the jv i say!
