Chammas Article

You still see the club as the 1908 Magpies.

The name might be inspired by both clubs, but it's a 25 year old club now.

As much as I loved Balmain, I have to allow the future to take hold as Wests Tigers. Both clubs are gone. Have you not noticed?

There's a wests logo and balmain logo on the back of the jersey. What more do you want? It's a serious question.
C'mon weststigers...1908 Magpies...seriously? no!

I see it as Wests Tigers...a JV built on 2 proud histories.
But when many people on here are calling for all our teams to be playing in Wests Tigers colours, it erases the Magpies identity.

"What more do you want"...more visible recognition of Wests Magpies black and white colours that reflect one half of this JV.

Both foundation clubs may be gone in name from the NRL, but their legacies live on...and that should be honoured, not diluted.

Mate they play in a predominantly black strip most of the time. What do you mean? I think that's why people struggle to come to your way of thinking.

Do you want them to play in black and white with zero orange? I don't really understand.

Wests exist in NSW Cup solely for Wests tragics. The right thing to do is become one club from reserve grade. I could kind of understand when Balmain was in NSW cup because we could hoarde juniors, but it makes no sense if we just have one team representing the NRL team.

If you look deep down, nothing you suggest is for the betterment of the club. It is just to satisfy your own self interest.

Be clear mate, what is the alignment you are asking for? If you can't answer that simple question then it is obvious that you are only here to stir up Wests Tigers supporters.
I actually did answer your question...see my reply to @weststigers...it's all there.
And I'm glad I responded to him rather than you, as I have more respect for him than I do for you.

If engaging with facts and calling for fair recognition stirs the pot, maybe the issue isn't my suggestions, but the discomfort those facts bring.

I'm here to honour the Magpies legacy, not to appease anyone's narrative.

So, if you find it impossible to stick to substance in future rather than throwing shade and veiled accusations, I'll be putting you back on ignore.

I'll stop and wake up when the facts stop being inconvenient to many on here.

Balmain absolutely helped Wests Magpies in a tough moment, no one is denying that.

But the present reality is a 90% stake held by Wests, ongoing investment in juniors, and an identity that's still active...not extinct.

If that makes me a "knob", so be it.
But the fact remains...Wests own 90% of this JV and continues to invest in its future.
The real discomfort some have isn't with ownership...it's with what fair recognition would actually look like.
If we acknowledged Wests Magpies current contribution proportionally, we'd have to admit that the balance of identity hasn't caught up with the reality of governance.
That's not arrogance.
That's asking for alignment.

Please get away from who or who doesn't own 90%, if Western Suburbs owns 90% or if Balmain owned 90% or even if Harry owned 90% it's not relevant to the past history, it's what’s best right here, right now for the Wests Tigers and the future of the Wests Tigers, not what’s best for the Western Suburbs Magpies or what’s best for the Balmain Tigers, both are memories and is where they should remain, a fond memory that should be remembered occasionally.

The WESTS TIGERS, a team represented by a tiger emblem and mascot, orange, black and white colours (or black, white and orange if you prefer), diehard fans of both FORMER clubs together with new fans and long term success, that's what is relevant today, not which side of the JV gets bragging rights.

Pot calling the kettle black mate. You said you want Wests Magpies colours on the jersey. How are the Wests Magpies under represented on the jersey? I'm not even having a go at you, I an genuinely confused.

Agree with everything bar this bolder line.
What the hell does that mean?

CALLING WESTS MAGPIES!!!
NSW Cup exists solely for Wests Tragic's according to weststigers.
And to me that dismisses an entire history and current pathway program that continues to contribute to our club's future.
That's not sentimentality...it's stewardship.

And as for self-interest?
Wanting balanced representation, visible black and white colours, and genuine respect for Wests legacy isn't about me...it's about upholding the joint venture in both spirit and structure.

If recognising one half of our foundation makes people uncomfortable, maybe that tells us something about where the imbalance truly lies.

To many trolls on here for my liking.

How isn't the white visible?

Heritage club jerseys at the grounds mentioned as a start.

The magpie should have a presence with pussy on the logo.

And the website, digital presence of the magpie on each page without fail.

A billion things we could do.
I’m with TSP on this one,
I was born in Balmain Hospital 63 years ago and as long as I can remember I have supported the Tigers and my best mate from 16 years old to today has always supported Wests (Magpies)
For him and others like him I would like to see the team play in a Wests Heritage jumper (with a Tiger on the sleeve) when they play out at Campbelltown.

Not too much to ask just look at some of the jumpers (colours) that other teams wear at times.

Example the chocolate soldiers (Penrith) wearing pink 🤷‍♂️

cochise, you say the Magpies "died" 25 years ago.
But the truth is, Wests didn't fold--they entered a joint venture, and they remain a living, contributing force.
They field a team, invest in development, and hold a 90% stake in the Wests Tigers brand.
That's not ghost-chasing, that's factual governance.

You may reject the emblem as others on here have, but you can't reject the contribution.
The Magpies haven't asked for dominance.
They've asked for visibility.
That's not romanticism, it's proportional respect.

And here's the point most often avoided...we don't strengthen identity by amputating legacy.
We build it by honouring both sides of the bloodline.
Wests Tigers isn't born from marketing, it's born from a partnership, no matter how lopsided things have become.

Calling calls for balance 'embarrassing' doesn't erase their merit. It just proves that some still prefer the comfort of a simplified narrative over facing the complexity of a shared foundation.

A Magpies win in the NSW Cup isn't just symbolic, it's alive.
And if that still matters to people, even those quietly cheering, it's time we acknowledged that one side of this partnership hasn't disappeared.
It's just wanting and needing to be seen.

This isn't about nostalgia.
It's about ownership, contribution, and visibility.
You don't build a future by ghosting your foundation.

The Magpies didn't die; they evolved.

And while some may cheer louder for the brand than the bloodline, I'll keep standing where history, pride, and progress meet...in Black and White

WHERE THE ⬛⬜ MAGPIE WATCHTOWER ⬜⬛ STANDS, ERASURE FALLS SHORT.
Black and white runs deep.
The past isn't holding us back---it's holding us up.
Maybe you should have read what he wrote before going off on your Maggie rant.
He said both Western Suburbs and Balmain died ‘at NRL level’.
He’s correct.
Get over it.
