Chris Lawrence

Gareth Widdop suffered the same injury as Chris did and is back on the field and playing as good as he did at the storm week in week out .Chris has lost way too much pace to be playing in the centres .should they move him to the backrow ? Wh o knows ..centre and backrower are nearly the same position these days anyway .
 
While we're on comparisons why don't you compare Gareth Widdop too, he dislocated his hip last season, was back in 3 months and suffered very little side affects. The difference there, and perhaps Conlon's as well, (not familiar with his injury) is that Widdop's hip popped straight back into place, Lawrence's took something like 2 hrs, they had to sedate him. He was still screaming when they put him in the ambulance. Its obvious just like with all injuries there are varying degrees of how bad they can be, Now you're either acknowledging this and accepting the injury has finished him as a player, or you're questioning his guts and heart to be able to return to the player he was, which is absolute bs. Accept it and get it through your thick skull. What happened to him wasn't too far behind Simon Dwyer, If Dwyer ever made it back on the field would you berate him like you berate Lawrence? i'd probably say yes. Lawrence is lucky to even be playing at all.

And for you to try and re-write history and say he should never have played for Australia, what a joke. Are you sure you still aren't thinking he was this kind of player pre-injury? cos anyone with half a brain and a memory will tell you, before his injury, people spoke about him in the same breath as they talk about Tedesco, he was close to the best centre in the world, And when he was in contract negotiations people were sick to their stomach's hoping he'd re-sign. I hope you bottle this memory you have of Tedesco atm, in case he ever suffers a similar injury and it affects him the way it affects Lawrence. Its one thing to think he's absolute crap now, its another to also try and re-write history and try and under-sell the player he was before his injury because of your bitterness towards him.

Ok, whatever you say. It's clear you only hear what you want to hear. Nobody is trying to re-write history. I guess it's wrong to have an opinion of someone's ability. Perhaps I inadvertently suggested that in fact he never played for Australia. Then again, I'm pretty sure I didn't.
On a positive note, he actually ran against the grain into a hole and scored a try as he used to do on a regular basis. However, he also was caught out badly when lyon threw the ball into touch in the first half. He always gets drawn in for some reason, and again, when they scored the try "before" halftime for some reason they've kicked towards him and he it came off for them. Apart from that he was solid enough without being outstanding. One other thing, it worries me every time he runs up out of the line.
 
Lawrence was very good on saturday, and the lyon would be break was not Lawrence fault.

He kept structure, like a pro, shuffled in with brooks, and didnt rush out creating a inside hole.

Defence is working together which they did, after the extra man was created inside.
 
hmmm…..maybe I saw that wrong, but I thought there was already two involved and he seemed to be flat footed and in there as well.
 
I have always been a massive Rowdy fan but I can see his pace and form are not at his highest standards. He still hits a hole hard and can run a good line as we saw from his try.

I want to correct something though….

All those saying his drop in form coincides with his injury are missing the important point that his blistering best ever form for Australia was actually after his injury. it was the next season that things went a little south.

For mine maybe the injury has contributed but I reckon a bigger part is his physique. He reminds me a lot of Garry Jack in build. When he was very young and tearing up, he was a lot smaller than he is now. He seems to have continued to put on bulk as he has gotten older and I think it has impacted his pace and mobility.
 
Just to confirm, and to end all these posts stating its his injury that has caused dip in form….

From Wikipedia..."At the start of 2011, Lawrence signed a contract to remain with Wests Tigers until the end of 2015\. He started the season with 4 tries from the first 3 matches, but then suffered a dislocated hip that kept him sidelined for over 3 months.[12] A further injury to his hamstring saw Lawrence play in just 9 games for the season,[13] but he was still selected in Australia's Four Nations squad,[14] and played in every game of the series."

Lawrence tore it up in that series and at the end of the season proper. Probably the best he has ever looked.

Yep. I always found it how people blamed his injury given some of his best form was post-injury.

If the side performs well, Chris will perform well. Mark my words.

I've heard that his hamstring concerns are unrelated to the hip injury. It is his hamstrings that cause the trouble, caues him to pull up and not stretch out to full capacity.

Remember how quickly Wade McKinnon lost his form once his hamstrings buggered up; Hodges appears to struggle with it month to month.
 
guys talking on radio doing the guessing of a players contract worth, is he really on $600k?
it's a shame he's had issues with injuries but i don't think any centre is worth more than $500k no matter who they are.

I just heard that too and that's disgraceful if true. I'm not having a go at Lawrence or his management but rather Tigers management who would offer a contract of that size. Jennings is the best centre and I wouldn't put more then $450k for him.

I just heard that too and that's disgraceful if true. I'm not having a go at Lawrence or his management but rather Tigers management who would offer a contract of that size. Jennings is the best centre and I wouldn't put more then $450k for him.
