what's people's opinion on this guy, a few years ago, he could have been anything, these days he looks like he is only a season away from playing in the forwards..

He will struggle to rep this year another player suffering from coaching the constant changing of postions as the game progresses doesn't help been very dissappointing this year.

He came up fast last week with a very, very poor read…...and it cost us a try.

Tonight he read the bomb very, very poorly and it cost us a try.

He's got too many errors in him to be a REP level player and really isn't much in attack.

I had him pencilled in as a future Kangaroo at one stage.

Now, I think his best level will be a solid 10 year first grader. He's definitely not a rep level player.

He is rep standard for mine. Not necassarily playing that way the last few weeks but he isn't alone. Over the last two weks Benji hasn't looked first grade standard half the time

I don't know what you blokes see re 'rep standard'. He's a level below Origin IMO.

City firsts, yeah. Maybe.

But he's a level below legit Australian players like Inglis…Hodges...

At Origin level, Morris....Jennings...both are a level above him IMO.

Morris has been rubbish in his one Origin. Jennings wasn't alot better.

Inglis and Hodges are a step up when fully fit.

I can tell you now the centres selected will be Beau Scott and Jamie Lyon ©

He's on par with Morris and Jennings imo. Just the latter two get more attention because they're "flashier". Lawry a bad moment on that bomb but i'm not worried about him. I think he's started the season in general quite well.

The last couple of weeks has seen Lawrence get bugger all quality ball. He got one good pass tonight from Benji and scored. The rest of the passes were nothing and he didn't help himself with the very poor read on the Walsh bomb for the Gordon try in the second half.

If he gets good ball he goes great guns, if he doesn't…well he's no different from any other centre who doesn't get good ball IMO.

As always, its hard for backs when forwards arent going forward….weve regulalrly only had one or two pigs at best carting it up well...that said i too been disappointed with chris' defence this year a bit, its gone back towards where it was at times

Agreed….but jump for the bloody ball next time!!!!!!!

The reason I say he's a level below rep standard is that rep level centers can **create for themselves**

When nothing is doing, Jennings / Inglis / Morris / Folau can do something individual…....get in at dummy half and sniff something out, step a few blokes and create....look at Jennings try last night.

Chris is a very solid player who can't really do those things. He's a good player, but he lacks the absolutel 'class' of the elite blokes.

Very happy to have him here though and he's a 10 year player no doubt.

He's just not going to be the Kangaroo level player his rookie season suggested he might become. No disgrace in that, he's still very good. Just not 'elite'.

If Beau Champion isn't selected there's something wrong

I think criticism for him here is way over the top.

It wasnt that long ago when we were giving him these big wraps because of his hole running, big defence and setting up countless tries for Lote and Tuiaki.

I know he made that mistake last night but geez, a bit harsh I reckon, we got to remember he's still only 21.

I still think he is an Origin centre and I still think he should play this year.

starting to turn into another Dean Collis

Golden…that is the single dumbest thing I've ever read on this forum.....

On a brighter note Collis scored a great try for the Sharkies last night...Onya Deano...

so are you saying Collis was never consistered for NSW?, maybe if I said hes the next Fitzhenry that would be dumb

I cant criticise Chris too much, but last week the only try that was scored was when he ran a decoy. To me he wants to make big run & not pass the ball enough. About his defence game he jams too much, which either looks great or ruins the flat line.

He'd be much more effective out on the wing. His defence has had a few issues with misreads in the slide and moving up very quickly at times chancing his arm. When a player does this, it can only have two outcomes of either a brilliant decision, or very silly decision. In saying this, it's a good sign he backs his own abilities.
He has been fed a fair bit of rubbish from his link men, which doesn't help his cause. His strength, size and speed would see him perfect for the wing and be able to cart up those easy 10's on tackles 1 and 2 and give him more opportunities to shuffle one in when required to hit holes.
This kid would easily match it with Inglis, Hodges, Folau at Origin level.

I don't think chris is in his best form but he is a talented player. Maybe not an inglis or hodges but still all quality. I do however think his development into a hard running second rower seems to have started. I would prefer him stay a centre but every year he seems to get bigger and lose some agility. In saying that he sure doss have a great power running game.
