Chris McQueen signs - Official

Good signing unlike our players can play 80 with impact and is strong and fast. Capewell is a great coup If he comes through would be ideal to eventually replace McQueen in 3 years.

$400k for a big bodied second rower that can play 80 minutes and has experience playing for QLD is money very well spent. Lets hope its confirmed and they get another 1 or 2 forwards and some outside backs.

he hasn't played good since 2014 when souffs won the comp and he had a good finals series, and well apart from that and the games he has played for QLD whats he done the last couple of years??

we gotta stop buying players where their prime is over, we did it with Blair and Lote, we just never learn on field and also off field.

The Roosters are a team that just know how to buy players in the prime of their career surprise surprise they are in the top 4 again.

the last time we bought players that were in their prime was 2004 when we took all the Parra players off Brian Smith.

Depth creates competition.

Competition makes player's perform or perish.

McQueen adds depth and loads of experience.

We have to start somewhere.

We are always complaining we have no depth.

Our young forwards aren't ready yet. He should help develop them as well.

Good signing IMHO.

If of course he doesn't change his mind.

Given the fact that unless the Tigers pay MASSIVE OVERS no half decent player would ever consider signing with us. Players will even sign for considerably less as reported today that Dale Finucane re-signed with the Storm for reportedly $375,000 less than what the Knights offered over a 3 year period, so the best we can hope for are players of the calibre of Chris McQueen. Whilst I am not a huge fan he is certainly a better signing than someone like Edwards. Hopefully, once the Tigers sign Cleary/Hasler and then re-sign Teddy & Woods other players may be (and that's a big may be) will be attracted to the club!!

God this place is funny.

"Too many tatts"

"We haven't bought players in their prime since 2004" btw, Blair is back to his prime again.

Haha, glad you guys aren't running the club.

400K is more than reasonable given the cap increase. Ridiculous comparing his signing to Blair's. When we signed Blair, his 500k would have been the equivelant of 700-750k today.

"too many tatts" is the quote of the year by far…

He is probably one of the Titans best this year and is renowned to put in for 80min. Plays a fraction wider than Rowdy's line, so I'm happy to give him a run.

When $400k a year was first mentioned I thought it was way too much. Having thought about it though, I now think it is quite reasonable for McQueen. He's no world beater, but an experienced, 80 minute edge player. He doesn't seem to miss many games through injury or suspension either, so I think this could be a good pick up for the tigers. Only thing that could come back to hurt us is if the new coach doesn't rate him… We could be stuck paying for him to play elsewhere again

Capewell would be a handy pickup. I don't mind McQueen, he plays well and speaks well. It's a step in the right direction. I'd like to see us chase a centre or two next.

Like people have saidd, we have to start somewhere.

McQueen might not be a world beater. However he has won a comp, is experienced and someone from a different culture.

We need as many new players as possible. This clubs needs to start over again.

Titans star Chris McQueen set to join Wests Tigers

March 27, 2017 12:17pm

THE Titans have been rocked by another player departure with key back-rower Chris McQueen to quit the club and accept a $1.2 million offer with the Wests Tigers.
\
\
The former Queensland Origin forward is resigned to leaving the Titans after the club refused to get into a bidding war with the Tigers for his signature. McQueen has been mulling over his future for the past 48 hours and has decided to ink a three-year deal with the Tigers worth $400,000 a season. Only a last-minute upgrade from the Titans will change his mind. But the Gold Coast are unlikely to budge on their two-year, $300,000 a season offer, meaning McQueen would sacrifice $600,000 by staying on the Gold Coast.

It is another blow for the Titans, who have been beset by an injury crisis and will now lose a forward who played all 25 games for the club last season.

Not true he is one of the Titans best. Age is a non issue we need experience.
