Come home from a late night at work to this pleasant news.

First decent signing we've made since Blair.

Elijah Taylor…?

I think he meant like normal signing. McIlwrick has looked good but he was supposed to be a squaddie. Taylor came here mid season and out of options. We haven't signed a player for next year that isn't a squaddie for ages.

Hope to buggery we get better value out of McQueen than we did with the headless chook Blair. It was during his time with WT that he got the moniker "Teddy Blair". Money down the toilet he was.

Blair is what an NFL coach would refer to as a "scheme fit" and he did not fit our scheme. He fit in Melbourne and he fits in Brisbane. He is a clean up defender, dog shotter, kicker hitter, dirty hit up taking old school prop. We didn't have a dominant prop when he was here cutting 150m+ per game and expected him to be doing it but he isn't that guy. If we weren't a shambles we'd have recognised what we had in him and signed a workhorse to line up beside him.

If we got McQueen for $400k per Season ? i think that is a very good value for money signing.
McQueen will be getting more than half of what Woods will be getting…..can't complain.

Yeah I meant targeted signing that didn't fall in our lap ala ET.

Obviously I hope he fits our system much better than Blairsville.

His clean up defending usually consists of trying to make up for errors he has committed in the 1st place, like when he was always the bloke chasing runaway opposition to the tryline after he had missed the crucial tackle to begin with. The only players I can recall him wiping out of a match when he was with WT was his own teammates, pretty sure he busted Farah's elbow by cannoning into him 3rd man in. And there was another very similar incident but I can't remember which one of our players it was that he obliterated.

He won't have much of a highlight reel, but I expect him to add a bit of toughness to our pack. The Titans are probably the gutsiest team in the comp. Here"s hoping he brings some of that mentality with him. We really need a nice big dose of it.

Great signing. Just what we need, an edge forward who can play 80 minutes. Im sure Cleary will make sure we get our monies worth. Now for some props and outside backs.

I like a lot of what you just said and I agree, Blair wasn't the right fit for Tigers. He is a very good addition to a strong framework pack that makes metres, I agree there. I think Tigers misjudged Blair's ability to take a bigger role than he did at Melbourne.

One thing though, Aaron Woods debuted in 2011 and Blair played for us 2012-2014\. I don't have the stats for Woods pre 2013, but in 2014 he made 146 m per game average. He's made 160m + average per game since 2014\. So I am expecting Woods was making consistent meterage in those earlier seasons with Blair 2012-13, especially as he got picked for Origin in 2013 on the back of his form.

Hmmm you may be right. I don't think Blair was playing all that badly though towards the end of his tenure. If I recall, most of the anti-Blair sentiment had softened by the time he left.

Good signing I reckon !

He'd probably make a good captain or co-captain as well .

Not a Plodder..?

Not yet , but once he puts in a Wests Tigers Jersey anything could happen

If anyone had said Blair would have failed at The WT's I would have laughed at them

The fact he can play centre at a drop of a hat is very appealing as well
