Chrissy Lawrence - a year to step up !

2012 was a year to forget for Chris Lawrence, being basically ruined by that unforgettable injury.

He has had a good period of time to recover, pick up his speed and generally geet his body into condition for a hard hopefully successful year.

On his return his play had suffered, understandably so, his passing was off, his support not as good and obviously his try scoring down.

In 2013 the WT's need him rearing to go as he is one of our top strike weapons.

In peak form he is one of the best centres in the comp and we desperately need him as our other centre position in in question.

Ayshford hasn't really cemented the spot and maybe thats a position the club will look at strengthening in 2014.

So Chris hope you are fit and rearing to go and have a great year in 2013.

Well his had hard luck with injuries, but his well overdue to preform on a consistent level.
I'm eager to see what effect and structure Mick Potter will give our team…

This year Chris was left to do too much work with the ball in hand , and I feel Rowdy will benefit most with Potter at the helm… In the UK he always had his Centres simply running lines and his ballplayers putting the ball out in front of them.

Rowdy is very good at running lines and there could be alot of tries again coming down the left in 2013.

I agree Watto. With some decent service from the halves he should be a handful in 2013 if he stays fit

My only concern with Chris is whether or not that he has lost his speed or not after dislocating his hip, I can't recall seeing him hit top gear at any stage this year. At least he has had longer off to recover this year once the season ended unlike last year when he made the four nations squad and played every game on that tour. Also having a more stable spine will make his job and all our backs job helluva lot easier.

Chris Lawrence and Curtis Sironen, they're two players I have high hopes for next year if they can avoid injuries.

He ran past Lachlan Coote like he was standing still late in the year, he never got quality ball this year, and I still think he was hampered by Sheens insistence on making him a Laurie Daley clone. The kids a hard running centre, who hits holes hard, leave him be.

Lawrence just needs to regain his confidence. The confidence that his hip will hold up and the confidence in his own abilities. So many times he'd make a half break but where as pre injury he'd take the players on with speed or give a well timed pass to his winger, 2012 would see him slow up and rely on his winger too much, and by that panic he would throw a wayward or hospital pass.

As I said, I don't recall seeing him hit top gear at any stage. Since he dislocated his hip in 2011 it appears to me that he has yet to regain his pace pre the injury. This is a forum where people voice their opinion just like your tripe about Farah not being the most personable player despite this instance being the first time i have heard people being critical of him.

You misconstrued my comment, I meant Coaches should leave him be as a Centre. And my TRIPE about Farah was something I noticed personally. It doesn't detract from him being a super player, others are better at mingling with fans.

This.

I am not too concerned if he has lost a bit of pace. His job is to punch through the defense and set up his winger for the score. It is also to provide rock solid defence out wide. He recieved poor ball most of the year and didnt go as hard as he may have normally and his defense was mostly aweful (rushing up out of the line, then missing the tackle). I think he has had his crap season, now it is time to turn it around and really produce. We on here think he is a star. The RL world arent fully convinced and with good reason. Time to prove us right mate.

I am also questioning whether he will ever be as good as he was prior to the hip injury! I support him 100% but Potter is the one who needs to get him running hard at the line!

I still have questions marks not over his hip , but the amount of size they put on him which I reckon could be working in combination with the hip and hamstring issues to slow him down

Got excited when we played the Cowboys away when he made that scintilating run but then had another leg injury soon after

Fingers and toes crossed for Rowdy 😛ray:
