Coach for 2015

If Potter does get the flick I'd like to see Kidwell given a shot.

Really ? He is the defensive coach and we have leaked 80 odd so far.

We were always known of razzle dazzle but now we cant even seem to but points on the board :frowning:

If Potter gets a heshian bag at the end of the season then I suspect Payten will take the reins for next year.

Potter deserves another year. Things were going fairly well until Origin and injuries hit. In fact we were overachieving in what we expected at the start of the year.

I hope your suspect is not considered just yet Willow

I don't think he is ready yet

it seems to me like as soon as there is any sort of downward turn in the team everyone wants to sack potter. from the very beginning i have been impressed with the change he has brought to the club and the attitude on field.
more than a few times people on here have said after games that they won whereas in the past they never would have.

he has a very inexperienced squad and it will take a few seasons for his blueprint to bear fruit (cliche, anyone?!). within the space of the season starting to now, people seem to have gone from hoping the tigers don't come last to calling for potters head because they (likely) wont make the 8?

imo, he has done well, is doing well and will be seen to be doing even better as his plan for the tigers starts to really show on the field. i have a lot of faith in his vision for the club and really think he deserves a 2 year contract. even the changes he has already made to the club warrant that.

And if Potter's contract is renewed , will Payten still be here ??

The only reason I could see payten getting the job is that there would be no one else willing to take it on for the coin we'd be offering
Would be a step backwards I'd guess…but who knows?
Only time can answer that

I would 100% give Potter another year. He has done a very good rebuilding job, the club was a total shambles at the back end of 2012 and early 2013.

However I now want to see evidence of coaching adjustments and more nous at the selection table. Potter has proved a steady man to right the ship that was sinking, however can he now take a young and talented group to the next level? Some of his recent selections and game plans have been very defensive and dour.

I would give him 1 more season regardless of how we finish the season. I would give him a 2 season extension if we qualify for the Top 8\. We has not totally inspired me at all in parts this season, but it would be pretty harsh to turf him out.

Potter has turned into Sheens with his team selections, this has lost a heap of support I had for him,I am 50/50 now where as before I was 100% behind our Mick.

selecting average players in the positions they are best at to maintain consistency when no suitable replacements are available does not make him tim sheens.

Check out this weeks team, and get back to me,Lulia is a gun winger I take it,he is a crap centre so put him on the wing,Tim Sheens all over again.

If it was sheens team, we would have 4 small backrowers on the bench. No props…

No where near a sheens team.

as far as i can recall this is the first time this season he has moved a player from one position to another and you jump all over it. well done.

Lelia is not my cup of tea, but credit where it is due. He was shifted to the wing on the opposite side after twenty odd minutes last week and did the job, so he deserves another shot.

I have not altered my position on Potter and can't see how others could justify changing theirs based on our performance so far this year. We have been decimated by injury and lost Farah and Woods for all three SOO lead up games as our byes did us no favours.

One year extension to have a shot with his squad.

Sacking the coach after 2 seasons is insane particularly given the basket case of a roster he had to start with.. As for Kevin Walters…..please - NO! Pretty sure he's involved with Newcastle right? He certainly hasn't set the coaching world on fire under the "master"

So Potter comes in to do all the dirty work so a former team mate of the boys, and guy from the Sheens era can take over?? I wonder if Payten is strong enough to build on what Potter has done or will we lose the very good foundations Mick has built?

gee I get so tired of the bleeding hearts on here, its not potters team its sheens team , oh its such a young team. hes the coach its his job to get the players he has to do a job, if they are not able to do that job thats fine then drop them, don't keep picking them. but I watch all the games and I see no structure to our attack at all we have gone backwards all season. and I don't care what team u put out they should have some defence structure , for 16 rounds we have watched while they continue to make under 15 year old mistakes in defence, yet nothing changes, hes the coach, either fix it or leave.

I don't think the 1 year option is quite right. Potter came here to do a job in 2013/14 and he has done that better than we thought- whether it be through new assistants or whatever.

Next contract cannot be less than 2 years. In fact it should be more than 2 years. The next coach needs to make us work as a team in attack and defense rather than work on team culture/ bringing in more juniors etc. the job description for the next few years is completely different to the job mick did with us earlier. And no way in hell is it a 1/2 year job.

If potter is to stay, someone new or some of the current coaching staff needs to come up with better tactics for us to succeed. Coaching brains have let us down this year.

Have you got any idea how hard it is when you are having to change your defensive structure week after week after week ??

I'm guessing you don't or you wouldn't have made the comment

The team has certainly gone down hill in regards to attack over the last few years whether this is Potters fault I do not know but I do know this has to be rectified by bringing someone to the club to sort it out.
.

We never had any attack. We had Benji at his peak, a one man team.

Our attack died when his form plumetted and the body cooled when he left.

Absolutely nothing to do with potter.
