Coaches Demise

After 10 years of one coach which gave us varying results (we averaged 10th when we didn't make the finals)

Oops big fingers.

We've averaged 13th with our other 3 coaches.

Pearce quit early because of poor player behaviour
Lamb, well, encouraged poor player behaviour.
Now Potter looks very shakey because of, but not only, poor player behaviour.

I am hearing that Potter is a disciplinarian but apparently not a shouter. We need a disciplinarian more than anything. The question keeps being asked … Can Potter coach? Only after he has his full first grade squad fit and playing regularly will we know that.

Keep him for at least another year. What have we to lose? Another new, low paid coach will come in and keep our average the same anyway.

That's EXACTLY what i want from a coach, Calm cool and level.

The last thing in the world we need is a coach that rants and rave's and carries on.

I want a coach who can be calm and relaxed when he needs to be calm and relaxed and when he needs to bounce off the walls I hope he can peel paint with his tongue

I Have been a manager / captain / coach of a lot of things over a long time.

I am yet to find an adult human being that responds well to, or who's performance is improved by being yelled at.

Hard to disagree with this comment. I thought that motivation came from within the player rather than from some external "magic".

Every time I watch a Mick Potter interview I think he handles himself with absolute class. He is articulate, thoughtful, reasoned and always supportive of his team. Potter is NOT the problem. I think he is exactly what this team and this club needs as a mentor and coach once all the other BS with the morons who mange the joint is sorted out.

 @LCM, great statement ,I have always said Potter is a class act in the coaching department. He has been given a very ordinary playing group..including injuries and he has held his head high ,the Numpties in the board room have got to understand that he can only work with what he has got ,and that's not much. How dare they put a decent man through this turmoil for their own ilgoten gain.Potter above all has been honest and truthfully has been given nothing in return ….In my complete and honest opinion he of all ppl in this circus should be given credit for what he has achieved considering we were going to win the spoon...BOARDROOM garbage seems to win every time ..what a joke they are ...West Tigers now and forever..

Each to their own I guess. Some need their ego stroked, some need a kick up the arse. We are talking about men though. Interesting that the 2 most successful teams of the last decade ( Melbourne and manly) have had coaches that explode

The Melbourne first grade side have done alright for many years of being yelled at.

Did anyone watched when FOX mic'd up North Queensland Cowboys coach Paul Green? Potter has the same demeanor as Green. I would find it very difficult to get up each week listening to that same monotone voice.

We need to get the best qualified people in the three vital positions of Head Coach, CEO and Strength and Conditioning. The budget 3 we now have in those positions are not capable of winning us a premiership.

There's nobody more monotone than Wayne Bennett. Players don't seem to have a problem with him.

Yes it's only a matter of time before Mr Potter becomes the most successful Grand Final coach in history and is inducted into the Australia Sport Hall of Fame.

Potter has to go …. Simple as that. There are underlying problems that he is a part of ... Whether he has been treated well or not is irrelevant. It's a results driven business, he had his chance and he did no good at the helm. Todd Payten should be installed as the new coach which is what I thought the club was grooming him for.
