Coaching

In fairness to Sheens, the Doueihi injury really made it hard for him. He had so much attacking structure planned, all revolving around Adam. We might not ever know where he could've lead this team, if the season was not plagued by injury to our star player.
Lol you can see his track record to know where it would have gone. The track record isn't over 4 or 5 seasons, it's over 4 decades but if you look at last 15 years, its even worse.

As I said, everyone will walk away thinking they did a good job and others let them down. No one will go on record to say I wasn't good enough.

Cleary left the club a complete mess. Madge was turning it around. Sheens send us backwards again. It'll be interesting how things go over the next couple of years but I'll always think Madge was the guy that started the rebuild. If it works and we do well in the next couple of years Sheens will deserve a lot of credit though.
Sheens has taken over and driven us to the worst position ever , 2 spoons under his ideas , please don’t say he is doing anything well , he has been blessed with Appi, Klemmer , Papi , Bateman coming into our team with great young players in Pole , Blore , Bula , Geezus Madge never has these type to use , and his teams were more competitive and please don’t use stats , use the nrl ladder

I have no idea why you stated "please don't say he is doing anything well". My only comment on his performance so far is that he send us backwards again. So we are actually in agreement at this point in time.

I also stated that if we move up the ladder Madge started the rebuild which implies it wasn't solely Sheens.

Then I stated that he will get a lot of credit if somehow this rebuild comes off over the next couple of years. I think that is fair point.

Sorry champ , not meant to come out that way , I do apologise if it went the wrong way , I just don’t think sheens has done anything and with all the stock we purchased in players makes it worse this year , agree with you , again , not come out correct

No problems at all. We are ordinary at this point. Well beyond ordinary. I really want to see us turn this around and I can see positives but I'm a optimist.

Agree and I seem to think with a few backs added along with the brothers and Sullivan we are looking better , fingers crossed this week we get an upset for a change , cheers mate

totally wrong way of thinking and that's why were going backwards.

Good coaches know their strengths and weaknesses.
Rabbit's are going good because John Morris is helping Demetriau.
Easts suck after loosing their assistant. Suddenly Cooper Cronk is blamed!?!?

Anthony Siebold sucked at the Broncos, send him to Manly with Jim Dymock and Flanagan and the team takes some kind of form.

Sheens is doing some things well:
"picked Bula and got him at NR1".
"Keeping team together.."
"signing Klemmer/Bateman to a team that was 16th".

The problem is Sheens has more SUCK then good.

Sheens is IMHO the Citroen of League Coaches. When he works, he works brillantly. Otherwise your stuck on the side of the road looking for bizarre french car parts.

Yes Madge would have had us further up the ladder this year. IMHO 14th. If Madge kept Hastings and punted Brooks or Doueihi maybe 12th. It was the right decision to sack him, wrong decision to not back either Flanagan or wait. ... The timing sucks we could have had Haslier.

The main criticism I have with the coaching staff is they've had almost 2 seasons to organise a spine and haven't. This team will be so much better if they had a regular spine including the 13.

I think Madge had an idea in his head & wasn't wavering.

I do remember a conversation I had with 'someone' where I learned that Madge was horrified when he first came in because of the lack of any significant pathways for the club. Cleary had set things up (along with the board- no point putting it on one guy) without any significant investment in our youth systems. Madge started working on fixing that (with the board). Sheens came in with further extensions of that plan. Sheens, for his faults, is a MASTER of developing youth pathways.

Success on the field, without 'buying a comp' is a long haul. This club needs to BUILD success. We are not THAT far away- look how many excellent young players are coming through now.

Madge identified the issue. His success (lack of) on the field was irrespective of that.

Sheens is still developing the backbone of the club. Just think 2003-2012, the amount of young players he brought through. That is how Wests Tigers will be successful. It took 2 years to go from Terry Lamb to premiers. I'm not saying we are on that path, but the footprint is similar.

The development of some of the lower level Top 30 players needs to be looked at next year. Matamua, Rua, Reilly etc- we need these guys to contribute to our Top 17 performances. If we are adding ANY coaches, it needs to be about bringing the lower end of our Top 30 squad up to the standard required, so we don't need to buy up from outside the club as much.

We are coming last and season almost over which is a small mercy but what I feel really depressed about is that next season might be just as bad !
We take all year and now have a fast elusive 5/8 and an improved running halfback but so what neither will be here next year .
We have a coach that doesn't mind losing " as long as we don't get beat " ??
We really struggle to recruit. SIgning a teenager who has never played nrl yet is not a game changer .Blore starting to shine maybe they will let him go .
We seem to rarely get a fair go from officials
What's more gloomy is that our reserve grade side don't appear to have anyone likely to graduate into an nrl star .Note none are picked and maybe for good reason .
At least last few weeks we have put up a fight and could have won last two games and are Not easybeats unlike Parra ,Raiders and Dogs this weekend but as far as I can see next years team at this stage on paper looks weaker .
