Commemorative jersey

To be perfectly honest I didn't initially kick up too much about the jersey thinking the images were reminiscent of some video game but did like that camo effect that they did.

What pissed me off the most was the fact they were calling it a commemorative jersey and not an ANZAC jersey, which is what it is supposed to be because we are supposed to be celebrating ANZAC round.

Quite frankly I'm sick and tired of tippy toeing around things and all the woke shit where people say Happy Holiday instead of Merry Christmas, people wanting to change the day Australia Day is on or wanting to call it Invasion Day to satisfy some looney wackos that are supposedly offended.

It's supposed to be an ANZAC jersey and not anything else and stuff all the clowns that want to cancel ANZAC day and every other event or traditional day because someone may be offended, just cancel me, I've had enough of all this politically correct woke shit.

Well these parasites will ensure that the Club is not lying about their due diligence. I think they are.
I also don’t believe it’s a ‘storm in a teacup’. Depends on your world view but I find it totally disrespectful and just plain lazy.
My point of view is big business has commercialized and cashes in big time on Anzac Day.

I work in the marketing field. This is a massive blunder by the club. Particularly since the CEO is a marketing guy.

Whenever you use an image of a person, anyone worth their salt will triple check who the person is, whether there's appropriate permission to use their image, where the image was taken.

When it's for something so emotional like ANZAC Day and the stakes are high, you triple check.

I'm generally petty patient with the club and I know that mistakes can happen, but this is a massive red flag that the club is being really poorly run both on and off the field.
Worked in senior roles in several large enterprises and the reputational damage caused by something like this would have got you sacked in every last one of them

Some ppl have a lot of time on their hands these days. Plenty of clubs dont even bother, and we blow up over a bloody picture. And you wonder why we play like we get a participation award these days.

I think you'll find they acknowledged that it offended people, rather than admitting they got it wrong. Nobody admits being wrong any more, that's very passe.
Lol ain’t that the truth! And Sheens heads the list on that one. Never at fault, never wrong lol. Oh and Gould, he’s another one. Oh and Bennett…and Stuart…geez there’s a lot of narcissists in this game 😂

Wests Tigers to redesign Commemorative Jersey

Wests Tigers
Wed 5 Apr 2023, 10:34 AM

Wests Tigers remain as committed as ever to making this year’s ANZAC Round match in Round 8 against Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles a respectful and special occasion.

The Commemorative Jersey to be worn by our players for this match has been criticised because an image on the jersey does not accurately depict Australian or New Zealand troops.

As a club Wests Tigers is deeply sorry if the use of this image has in any way offended anyone. This was never our intention, and we are taking steps to rectify this.

We have taken on board feedback from our members and fans, and we will be redesigning our 2023 Commemorative Jersey, immediately.

Wests Tigers deeply regret any offence the use of this stock image may have caused and remains completely committed to honouring and respecting all those servicemen and women who have, and who continue, to serve.

The redesigned 2023 Commemorative Jersey will be worn by our team in Round 8.

These jerseys will then be auctioned after the match, with all proceeds going to our ANZAC Round matchday charity partner, Legacy.

Wests Tigers would like our members and supporters to know that, as a club, we will continue to embrace the ANZAC spirit, this year and in years to come.
Keep the jersey
Just punt the CEO

I asked an AI to generate a commemorative anzac jersey for the wests tigers and this is what the AI came up with.

I do get the impression you think you are here to educate me. I may be wrong, but you are replying to me a lot.

Like I said, I give us old-timers a lot of space in respect to the time and effort put into this forum; the history of contribution. I'm not going to have a go at you.

But one of the few things I do take offence about is the "your mate" comments, in reference to Pascoe of course, as if you claim to know who I am and why I post what I post. So that goes both ways.
OK... I see why you addressed me by my Christian name as if you know me... You've mentioned several times in the past you've had personal dealings and meetings with Pascoe, always from memory in a supportive manner.
It was nothing to do with pretending to know you.... As I don't.

No I understand it very well, I just want to provide a different position that I think this story is pointless.

It seems to me some people think they can repeat their opinion down 20 times, but if you put your opinion down a few times, that's an issue.

I am exercising my right to repeat myself.
Well done on finding such a useless hill to die on.
