He is a proven winner with the right cattle. How many of our current squad would make the starting team in any of the top 8 sides? Hardly any if any. Here in lies the problem.
For years WT have only ever attracted has-beens and the odd plodder. Unfortunately we are not yet to see any youth come through that are quality 1st grade material. I really believe WT are doomed, and as an entity, cannot dig themselves out of the hole the club is in. Relocation offers the only hope as I do not think we will survive too much longer whilst praying and witing for the next crop of superstar juniors come through.
Would Flanagan/Morris & Co turn the career of James Roberts around? Could they make Garner a superstar? Could they get the best out of Moses & Brooks? I can't see it unfortunately. The problem is 100% the players. This I'm certain of.
We have very little speed, players that cannot read defence and we are rudderless in attack. No coach in the NRL (including Bellamy) could fix what we disg out on the field week in week out.
The game plans don't help
No such thing as a game plan v the storm ..
Unless you call holding the ball and staying in the field of play a game plan lol ?
The game is won in the collision and from the outset we are back to the passive defensive structures.
Being passive is not a structure it’s a personal decision to avoid your job. Guarantee they didn’t practice running away from contact throughout the week.
Mate it is a structure.
So you are telling me it was a plan to allow Melbourne to shift the ball to create simple overlaps at will. It’s simple. Our second rowers are a waste of space in defence and that leaves our centres and halves to fix it all on their own. Against good teams that’s just suicidal and leads to 8 tries in 20 mins.
All our players defend in the same way, they wait for the attacking player to engage the defence and then grab at the player to keep them upright with the aim of dropping the ball runner as the ref calls held. It is definitely a defensive structure, just not one that works in the modern game.
I know you like to call out the second rowers but we are shot before the ball even gets to the second rowers as we are on the backfoot already by our middles trying to cuddle their way to victory.
Nah
We bashed the Pamfers pack and we took it to the Souffs pack ..
it’s all mindset and attitude..
They’re not a battle hardened group like the front runners in the comp
We bashed the Panthers and Souths pack because we actually got up of the line and put the shoulder into tackles.
Why can’t they do it each week ..
It’s attitude !
They can’t be arsed ..
It was quite evident in the Dragons game that we were playing a much more in your face defensive style, getting up off the line with good line speed, that carried through the Panthers game but last week it was gone and this week was more of the same.
Why ?
That mate is the million $ question, you would hope it is not coaching but I can't 100% say it isn't. The issue is when we are being more aggressive in defence it is the whole side defending that way, when we are being more passive it again is the whole side defending in that manner. Tonight even Seyfarth who usually hits hard in defence was soft.
We don’t have the caliber of players to do it week in week out ..
The team is full of discarded rejects no other club wanted
Laurie.. not a fullback / poor positioning/ poor hands .. unwanted by Pamfers
Nofo ..he’s shit but he’s the best we can get in that position so we extended him
Doueihi ..poor defender ..is he a 6?..is he a centre .. unwanted by souffs
Talau ..he’s shit .. slow / poor defender / poor hands
The list is endless mate ..
Add Madge’s reputation for being a hard arse
No finals in a decade
6 home grounds
No proper training facilities
Divided supporter base
And that’s Wests Tigers !
