Sorry to say it, but Madges selections are on par with the game plan(or lack of), discipline (there is none) structure,(whats that?) agression, (whats that ?) It's a simple fact , we are a poorly coached team of sub standard players.

We went into the year with no up to standard centres.

BJs a flow.
Jet is past it.

AJ and Talau are not ready and Talau never ill be...

@TrueTiger what are your thoughts?
You sticking up for these guys still?
Genuine interested in your take on last night's game.

And players that he brought to the club. All way to slow for the modern game. Tamou wouldnt make any other teams first grade side and Madge has made him captain. Now he want Tpj - wow. We need hard arse defenders not big slow edge backrowers who turn up for 5 games a year. Our recruitment has been poor big time.

Too many fans complaining.
He will also be going to a better club.

Wait and see.

If i was TPj and had not yet signed, i would run a mile!
But we need him and more desparately.
WE need speed and power, the Tigers are soft and slow.

I really like Pangai Junior but he’ll make no difference to us whatsoever. At this stage not sure any player could. We’re a mess

And, I share your frustration, but what do you mean by a "mess"?

Our squad isn't first grade standard.

New rules for a fast game, fatigue, sin bins set restarts all factors that coaches with ordinary squads can not combat. At least half the teams in the competition on any given week could have reason to sack the coach based on teams inconsistent and poor performances.
Sack the coach - but the reality is still the same. Not enough quality players available. Disappointing performances will continue because players get paid regardless of whether they get beat by 50 or not, and clubs are scrambling to strengthen squads so most will get picked up despite form.
Sacking the coach is taking action but I've seen enough from the performance of most of teams in the competition this year to realise that most coaches under these rules are on a hiding to nothing.

Ok. But do you mean they never were? Or never could be? So, its a recruitment issue.

Or, they are better than they are showing, and it's a coaching/development issue?

My opinion is... we have a handful of good players and the rest aren't up to it. If that's attitude or ability or a combination of both. It's sad to say but we need to move on from a lot of that top 17.

I'd keep Twal, Laurie, Seyfarth and Douihei.
Offa and Stefano.

Guys like Nofo, Brooks, Mbye have had their chance and can't cut it.

Talau shouldn't even be playing grade, he is that bad.... he's been afforded more chances than better players who have failed for us in the past.

I'd release him.

The players look disinterested, the coaching style isn’t working. We are a better team than we showed last night.

I’m shouted down on here by a few for being too negative towards the coach, but we are now in year 3 and we’re getting progressively worse. I’m not sure how we get out of this predicament but changing nothing is not the answer.

For the complete history of the game poorer squads were able to pull a better team into the grind and tough out a win on grit and determination. With the way the game is being played and officiated now that is impossible so the good teams just roll straight through the poorer squads, I don't even go to most of our games now thinking maybe we will get an upset win. It just isn't possible unless the better squad is completely off their game.

No you're not being negative towards Maguire. Every excuse is being offered up by his apologists about why he isn't to blame for that debacle. The reality is he is the greatest contributor to it as he has the greatest influence. My fear is that he digs his heels in and attempts to stay when it is clear his tenure is at an end (it was long before last night.)

We don't need a decent coach.

We've had poor ones (Taylor)
Decent one (Potter)
And a premiership winning one (Madge)

Let's roll out the super crew:
Tim Sheens, Robbie Farah & Johnny Morris.
Throw in the KOE coach too.
Powerhouse coaching staff.

You telling me they won't instil passion in the playing group?
You telling me they won't get them fired up for the game?
You telling me Robbie won't rip shreds off them after a loss?

Make Douihei captain and let him play 6 like he wants.

Release Mbye, Nofo, Brooks and Talau.

Upgrade centres, new winger.
Another lock or second rower or BOTH.

We're already better, on paper.

Clearly the issue is defence so either bring in a head coach who can create very good defensive sides, or bring in a top quality defensive coach as an assistant. Don't ask me who because there's no one (that I know of) available who can do that.

Agree Cochise - feel exactly same. And if there is no balance in the referees decisions - whether they are right or wrong - then the outcome is likely to be even more dire.
