Clearly the issue is defence so either bring in a head coach who can create very good defensive sides, or bring in a top quality defensive coach as an assistant. Don't ask me who because there's no one (that I know of) available who can do that.

I have said this before but for me three is only three active head coaches that would have a chance at turning us around and they will never come here.
Anyone who has defensive coaching responsibilities with this club currently should not be on the plane back home from the Sunshine Coast.
We need better assistant coaches across the board.
We need someone of the ilk of Michael Hagan but he is no chance of leaving his new director of football role at the Knights.
Peter Ryan, he might be able to show our squad how to use their shoulders. He returned to the Broncos in 2020 but I’m not sure if he’s still there this year? Jason Ryles?

Mate, I am the biggest Tim Sheens fan, but he hasn't coached in the NRL in 10 years.

I did just check his results in the Super League and they are better than I expected, maybe I could be convinced on Sheens.

What really annoyed me last night was the lack of urgency and laziness. First try Lucy makes a tackle and struggles to get back to his feet in time , then is slow to react to B Smith and no-one slides to help. Tigers make a mistake, instead of getting on with it Liddle starts venting ,has the ball ripped out of his hands, quick tap....storm try. Garner got beat twice by Hughes for his try next to the sticks.

The players look disinterested, the coaching style isn’t working. We are a better team than we showed last night.

I’m shouted down on here by a few for being too negative towards the coach, but we are now in year 3 and we’re getting progressively worse. I’m not sure how we get out of this predicament but changing nothing is not the answer.

The only thing that keeps off the sack Madge bandwagon is no decent coach is going to come here.

That’s also a problem. But what’s happening now is not sustainable. He’s been given more than enough time to at least improve things.

At this point in time I would be surrounding him with the best possible support.

It’s an option, but I think he’s done his dash.

He'll probably get the Taylor treatment sacked a few weeks into the season if he starts poorly next year. Problem is who's even available as head coaches? Need to find a good assistant coach who's looking for a top role

That would be unwise IMO. We have a bit to spend for next year, players will want to know who they’re playing for

They play for the jersey , the fans and the love of the game ..
Shouldn’t really matter who the coach is

In a perfect world I agree. But the reality is it does matter

By the time a player plays nrl he should pretty much know the ins and outs of the game ..
I hate the word coach ..they don’t need a coach , they need someone to aspire to ..a man manager ..the ultimate Dad / father figure..

Have read the entire thread and people seem to be torn as to whether it’s a player - coach or even board issue. Last night highlighted something to me and that’s leadership - a that is something all groups are responsible for. When things are going south, people look to their leaders for answers and we did not have any last night.

The Storm started like a whirlwind and were very good. Couple that with a few bad errors from us and questionable referee decisions and we down 24 before we really touched the ball.

It’s at that point that the leadership matters. On field who hikes the troops together to say follow me? Off field? Madge walking out at half time, throwing his toys out of the pram? That’s not leadership. The board who have consistently let a culture of mediocrity flourish- that isn’t either.

By the way, talking behind the goalposts about what we should be doing doesn’t cut it either. The guy who charges into the teeth if their defence, who pulls of a hit, who jumps on the loose ball and does the 1 percenters is that guy.

The coach who walk in and inspires his players to go out and put in a better performance. Gives them some advice or fresh ideas and takes ownership as much as the players. He doesn’t distance himself. Could you see Trent Robinson doing that?

Get some real leadership in key positions on and off field and we may see results.

BTW Seyfarth and Doueihi are good starts on the field

Sorry to say it, but Madges selections are on par with the game plan(or lack of), discipline (there is none) structure,(whats that?) agression, (whats that ?) It's a simple fact , we are a poorly coached team of sub standard players.

Sheens is not the answer

Why ?

Mate, I am the biggest Tim Sheens fan, but he hasn't coached in the NRL in 10 years.

I did just check his results in the Super League and they are better than I expected, maybe I could be convinced on Sheens.
