I expect to be beaten up for saying this, but the ideology is sound, its our interpretation on the park that sucks.
Lets agree that Frozone gets sucked into the same man as Moses, seems kind of simple correct? Yet Lockyer had a minder and it wasnt the centre… Tony Carroll was a 2nd Rower. Our up and in fails in the middle, with our props jogging away from behind the markers instead of forming a defensive structure with any impetus. Once the ball moves wide, they jog over instead of accepting responsibility for the next man, and the failure is exposed on the fringes.
Grant has been the man on the spot on 3 break aways down the guts, 3 weeks in a row, today rushing up instead of switching off, and our benevolent captain is the worst offender in the slide from the middle.
I will also say I think Taylors style of playing everywhere and being super busy has an effect on the numbering breakdown, though I find it a cop out to blame him for others not being able to count and shift.
Yes in theory it is ok. However we dont have the defensive forwards to lock up the middle. The centres and wingers are getting hung out to dry by the lack of fitness and hunger of the forwards.
