My take is the idea that players just want to win is crap. They play each week in the best comp and of course they want to win.

They are though significantly more concerned with how much they earn.

This is rubbish Happy. If this is what the game has come to, then caveats on earnings should be written into the contract in the first place. Once again, if not, then the fault lies with the player managers and players themselves. You can't expect anyone, or any club to have a written agreement, then up it because the player is playing well (as the player and club would both want) through good coaching. A simple line in the sand would be if said player isn't happy, and the club agrees, then they can leave under terms of existing contract to another club with a year of no first grade and a transfer fee to the club. Maybe 20-30% All of which has been said before.

Like i said.......he signed the deal. There were obviously no provisions for an upgrade for good performance in the original contract just as i'm sure there were no provisions for a downgrade for poor performance. He pays 10% to someone to take care of all that for him, so he should direct his anger to that person and demand a reduction in fee for poor performance.
The club wanted to upgrade and extend, but the training is too hard for Matto. You can spin it anyway you like at the club but imo its misdirected. The guy doesn't even have the guts to be up front with his coach about his feelings.
