I like him, he has been one of our best this year. Would hate to see him go but that’s the age we live in. Instant gratification and acknowledgement needed.

He joined us as a fringe first grader with potential, shined this year and now allegedly he wants more money or is unhappy with coach.

Could just be a rumour or a contract renegotiation ploy who knows?

Either way let’s see what Madge and Pascoe do and what transpires. Either they earn their coin and keep him here or they go out and find a replacement.

This is now more about those two than Matterson in my opinion.

@Sabre 100% agree... I normally don't mind if they let media report blow over but this one is just making our club look like a club where players don't want to be.. The Club should come out and address this so us paying fans understand what is happening because as normal we are left in the dark. If I am another player off contract and I had a choice between Tigers and elsewhere I would not come here with this rubbish around unless it is for massive money.. This story is everywhere and needs closing down urgently..

We've got plenty of room in 2021. Upgrade his last year and extend for another one or two.

Matto should be one of our cornerstones moving forward.

This has been rumoured for a while but I gave it no thought as he has a two year deal remaining and can’t leave. It’s smart by his manager and tells me the Matulino retirement and also the off loading of players will happen soon.

His manager obviously wants him to be paid what he is worth say 550-600k. If we extend him for 2 further years and upgrade the salary it’s a good move.

Problem is we need reinforcements this will further hamper us as we need to extend Twal also next year. This is what happens when a coach pays overs for players Mbye, Reynolds, Matulino, Packer. We are in a worse position than when Farah was supposedly the cause of all evil on 900k.

How the hell was that such an issue when now we have 4 players on huge money in reserve grade.

If it was just a rumour and it was still posted on NRL.com I would have the same concern. The official website if the competition shouldn't be a "What's the Buzz" style column.

Totally disagree with players wanting upgrades mid contract but if clubs are going to offload players mid contract well..... all bets are off

Does anyone on here think Arrow is better than Matto?? Personally I think Matto has more impact, is younger, is a player we can build a forward pack around and most importantly he is already a member of the mighty Wests Tigers.

And yes I know he is apparently only on $350k and kudos to us for getting a great deal but if you’re Matto and watching management from the inside chasing a player for reportedly $800k that doesn’t bring anything to the table you don’t have, wouldn’t you be disillusioned as well.

I know some will say he signed a contract for that amount and should be happy but let’s be honest, this season he has gone to a whole new level and that level is at least equal to Arrow and if we are willing to spend $800k on Arrow to build a team around then guess what, other teams will pay that for Matto to build a team around him.

Question is who would you prefer, for me I’d take the man already in Black, White and Gold!!
