A usually reliable poster on the Sharks' forum posted that Peachey has been offered to WTs for Matterson, No thanks don't want Peachey anywhere near our club, Way overrated in my opinion, Scott and Lomax are far better options,

I'm afraid "The Peach" these days is a small moulding apricot.

No thanks.

Does he wish to go back to the Roosters?

If so, the club should ask for a suitable player swap.

Who would you choose? Which Roosters players/or players would they let go?

Billy Smith and Tuponua.

@pawsandclaws1 aha so now this is a oh matto Christian he bad Christian’s all bad thread lol

Beliefs are important but I always am wary when someone needs to make sure others know he or she is a Christian. Also it is important to know what brand of Christianity you are referring to, A literal interpretation of the Old Testament is not what I consider mainstream. That is just my own opinion and others are free to differ.,

I know we all want the club to stand their ground, but the reality is if he truly does want out, that’s it, the club will let him go. Clubs don’t force players to stay or play them in reserve grade anymore, it just doesn’t happen. They cut their losses. The sad thing in all this is that it’s a reminder that contracts mean nothing anymore. We re-signed Aloiai a couple months back for two years. Let’s say he comes out next year and plays like an animal. Whose to say it won’t happen again with him. We signed Packer and Reynolds for 4 years apiece and not even half way through those contracts, both were told they were free to leave. You almost have to treat players as a year to year commodity, regardless of the length of their contract.

That is why it really annoys when I see others wanting to get rid of players such as Brooks, Lawrence and Nofo, guys that give their all and want to be part of their team, our team, the WT. Such players are few and far between in the modern game.

Sadly, I had to take another player that would happily bleed for the club, but selfish in other ways, off the always support list a few years back. Those named above have no such blemishes, so should always have our support and in the case of Lawrence, deserves the relatively small contract amount for another season.

@gallagher

What nuffies?

The bloke that doesn't know the salary rules to start with.

Yeah Pascoe is getting the arse because some folks cancelled their memberships. You need to wake up.

I get it, you think Pascoe is rubbish at his job. You put the boot in every possible opportunity and it's boring. Pascoe is penalised for bringing Cleary, yet Madge is apparently a good purchase...also brought on by Pascoe.

The Ryan Matterson exit issue has literally nothing to do with Pascoe at all. Either he wants more money or is overworked or some combination, but we signed him on a good deal. If Pascoe is indeed to be criticised for salary cap issues, he should equally be commended for astute value propositions like Matto.

Maybe if vast numbers of memberships are cancelled the Board might do something about Pascoe, but equally they might give Pascoe a chance to turn things around. I am absolutely certain that the Board has some particular opinion of Pascoe's capabilities already and his performance KPIs, and Joe Blow from the public isn't going to change that.

Well I will bow to your superior knowledge on boring posts. Bagdad Bob had nothing on you.

I'd just do a straight swap for Nat Butcher tbh

What is this guy's caper?

I say we don't grant him a release until every other side has used up their full cap then say see ya later, stuff him!

He's a slightly better than average player imo, certainly not irreplaceable and totally overrated by most of the forum.

Would I like to see him pull his head in and want to be a major part of our future? Yes absolutely, but if he's going to carry on like he is, there's the door see ya later, if he doesn't want to be here on the money he's contracted on then he doesn't want to be here, if the only reason he stays on is if his contract gets boosted then just let him go he's not here for the right reasons obviously.

He's far from being a superstar, he should be grateful he even gets to play Rugby League for a living and gets decent coin for doing it.

The greed and just the direction this whole sport is heading is really causing me to really lose interest and by what I'm hearing it seems I'm not the only one.

You can't keep an unhappy player in reserves. Fans forget about the human relationships in clubs. Players do not appreciate seeing their mates held back and it doesn't do well when you are trying to attract others. It creates disharmony and we get no value from it.
The system is flawed managers, players and clubs know it and until the NRL do something about it some will continue to take advantage of it.
The dumbest thing we can do is make this about our club because it is not. Klemmer, RCG, DWZ, Norman all players who recently broke contracts because they were "unhappy". It's called self interest.

Of course you can. The team mates know that it is that player's decision, they control their destiny and could very easily be playing NRL if they decided to act in a professional manner. Players would lose respect for a friend and team mate acting in such a selfish and childish manner.

Klemmer needed out of Sydney for family reasons (which is different) and RCG, DWZ and Norman were all unwanted by their clubs. Matterson is not unwanted. That's the difference.

There you have it you are looking at it from a fans point of view detached from knowing him personally.
It's not about what reason they give for being unhappy it's about the relationships they have with in the the team if you force them to stay somewhere they don't want to be.
You can't have some of the team siding with Matterson if we make example of him and play hardball. I can guarantee he will have players/friends that will sympathise with his situation and that causes a distraction that the coach does not need.

Mate don't kid yourself for a second, if the guys you mentioned knew they could get 150-200k extra a year elsewhere they would have left yesterday.
Once a player thinks they can get more $ they'll start holding the club at ransom, as much as Lawrence loves the Tigers do you think he'd stay on $150k if he knew he could get 300k elsewhere? If you do, you're kidding yourself.

This is a good read.

The Club handled the Cleary matter really well and achieved an excellent outcome, I have confidence we will achieve an equally excellent outcome.

I think the players realise that he would be getting paid 425k to play NRL and have the possibility to do so. If he refuses to play NRL then what can WT do? I can't see other players being upset when it is exclusively the player's decision not to play.

These are all hypotheticals at this stage of course as none of these events have happened yet.
