I would just like to say:
congrats to Darren Lockyer on having completed his stellar footy career today. :righton: :wahoo:
thanks for the memories.
enjoy your time with your family

x 2 WesTAHger One of the five best I have seen so far in my life Glad you got on the scoreboard also
Enjoy your retirement ,you have earned it

lol @ his conversion attempt, do any retiring players who get the final conversion succeed in kicking it? Skando from memory missed his attempt from his first retirement.

Wouldn't say he was the greatest player but he is the player the greatest achievements - consistent class.

All hail the maestro. Darren achieved far more in his career than many other fancied and pampered stars did or ever will.

My memories will always be filled by the MANY times he single handedly won the Broncs, QLD and Australia games. More so than Joey ever did.

Congrats on an amazing career Lock, and good luck with the next chapter in your life.

Congratulations Lockyer on a magnificent career.

I'm sure all fans of Rugby League will miss you and will have very fond memories of you, your career and your many achievements.

All the best for your future endeavors.

We've read about "The Little Master" who was Clive Churchill. We've all heard about "The King" Wally Lewis. And now, everyone has seen the guy who will be known as "The Legend" Darren Lockyer…

As a few have mentioned in past threads, Stats dont always tell the truth about certain players who have been a major influence within the game of Rugby League, but its clear the Stats which are present in relation to Darren are quite amazing and the sign of a true champion.

To me, Darren Lockyers greatest asset on the footy field was his work 'off the ball'. His ability to slow and speed the game up/down was the best I've seen, followed with his natural ability of setting up the opposition defence to look silly on many occasions. I remember watching him on debut, shift sideways, drift backwards and then run through a hole and he made a break for about 25 meters. I remember turning to a close friend of mine and saying "Wow... the last person I saw do that was the King".

Not sure if he deserves a 3rd Golden Boot this week ahead of the efforts of Paul Gallen this year, but Gallen isnt nominated, so why not?!

Its been an absolute delight watching Locky play. I hope he enjoys his retirement and finds purpose and fulfillment elsewhere. Truly believe he's the greatest since Wally.
