Yeah I have no issue with that..especially the way he has played lately….Its just a waste of $550k for an ISP player....

Watson is unproven. Its easy to look good in a Roosters side who dominates and you come on at the back end of games. So far he's been a downhill skier. Jackson Hastings looked like the next immortal playing next to Pearce. Where is he now? That isn't sarcasm, where is he? Last i heard Manly reserve grade. Not sure if he's still there.

Back to Watson. The above example about Hastings is proof that you take form from a young kid in a strong side with a grain of salt. I hope he's a star, but he's far from the sure thing most are making him out to be. Atm he's a kid with potential. And how many times have we been sucked into that? Both as a club and as supporters. Learn from your mistakes.

In any case, if our pack performs even half as good as Easts pack next year it'll go a long way to bringing his best out. Anything that keeps the halves honest is OK by me. Two young blokes putting pressure on each other to perform is not a bad thing. It would seem that if we sign Watson, Brooks is no shoe in to be starting half.

So you've got one Halfback only in Brooks who probably wouldn't be too bad filling in at hooker if needed but would make a terrible fullback

No offence to Brooks, who I quietly hope will improve, but he aint a hooker's butthole.

This was merely a comment in regards to utility options if required. I do think if we are desperate he could fill in, I'm not talking about replacing any of our current hookers.
He either cuts it at halfback or he doesn't as a first grade position first and foremost.

I can't see Watson and Reynolds as the first choice halves combination, they're both ball running 5/8's. It would be like Brisbane running with Bird/Milford. If Watson were signed I imagine the most likely spots for him would be 1 or 14.

Depends on your cap situation. If tigers do sign Watson that means they will have about 1.7mil tied up in 3 halves which isn't a lot in the modern game. Especially now when 1 half is costing teams close to one million these days. Who would of thought someone like Widdop hunt or Townsend would be commanding million dollar deals 2 years ago? So like I said 500k isn't that bad if it works out u get a bargain if it doesn't it's not a massive hit to the cap for the position

Moving on. Brooks isn't proven and he has had a lot of time off the park with his hamstring problem. Cleary shouldn't be betting the farm on Brooks coming good.
