Connor Watson

Fox Sports says Watson deal is $500,000 per year - https://www.google.com.au/amp/s/coupler.foxsports.com.au/api/v1/article/amp/nrl/media-watch-connor-watson-signs-big-deal-with-wests-tigers-according-to-report/news-story/7662d822afb96a6098815e1d54ebfd03

Watson > fullback than Tui
Reynolds> 5/8 than Tui
Nofa & Tupou > wingers than Tui
Rona & Milne > Centres than Tui

Depends who we sign but the most likely outcome is Watson replacing Brooks with Tui at fullback if he doesn't improve fast. Suli will be in reserve grade if we sign rumoured backline players.

I'll be very disappointed if we don't add one more prop and back rower. No point in loading up in the backs if we don't have depth in the forwards.

Suli won't be in reggies, in fact I wouldn't be surprised if he moves to the backrow. The more I see of him, the more I see him in the forwards, he's already being used as a battering ram, he dents the line on every carry and I'd wager he'll be 3-4kg heavier next year and stronger given he's only 18/19\. He's mobile but doesn't possess great speed, and if you watch when the Tigers get burnt out wide, Suli quite often doesn't have the pace to foot it with his opposite. I don't see him as a long term centre option.

We talk about strengthening the forward pack, well Suli as an edge backrower does that.

Coaches promising a player where they will play…well it is 2017 I guess...the days of i'll play anywhere as long as it's FG seem long gone...

Watson would be dynamic at Fullback...just what we need without the organising responsibility ...I don't believe he is an organiser type half and been shown up a few times there for the Chooks last year...

All for this ...

Well, with the backline we signed we should be certainties for the Auckland 9's. I guess it's a start!

It is a start!
Historically since the admission of the nines the NRL premiership Winner has come from the Grandfinalist or Runner up of the nines tournament the year prior!

Big fan of Watson, so very happy if this is true. We're gathering a fair bit of depth in the backs, looking forward to some competition for spots.

I rate him very highly his start to the year for rookie was as good as Inglis and Folau as rookies. He has hit a wall which, probably should be expected. He lacks that mental hardness and aggression which, may come with time but currently his defence is terrible. He's a few years away from the forwards and it will drastically help if McQueen is defending alongside him.

No way Suli deserves to play ISP. I'm more concerned about our forward pack. We need to sign a few more up front.

If he defends the same way next year we will have replacements. I hope he starts every game but he is on par with Kev defending in the centres ATM.

Exactly… If we don't have a forward pack that lay the platform and dominates the middle then it won't matter who we sign in the backline.

People need to accept suli does not defend at a first grade standard. Being a centre or second rower is not going to help that.

Personally I'd see Watson as a supersub type roll.

He could play 14 if everyone was fit but in reality over a season you would see very few weeks where all 4 f our spine were fit and available so most weeks he would be starting in your spine.

Anyway just my 2 cents but I havent seen too much of him

I'm sure it's coming …. there is no way the coach would leave the team exposed on that front.

With the knowledge that Watson is headed this way I wonder if Brooks and Lolohea pick up their game this weekend. Let's see if a little pressure impacts on performance.
