Cooper Cronk Released From Storm

9 pages and counting. And all because one player says he is relocating to Sydney.

We have NEVER seen gushing like this on these forums for ANY player.

Cronk will sign with Souths.
Walker to fullback, Inglis in the centres and Johnstone back to the wing.

The Eels will be their main rivals Norman back to 5/8 and Gutherson back on the wing when Radradra leaves.

Norman is reported as being on $730-750K for his current deal and is their primary playmaker. Do you really feel Eels can afford a million bucks per season on his halves partner?

Also do you reckon GI is on-board with being shifted to the centres?

Personally I think Tigers have the ability to get him (space / money), it's whether we would interest Cronk or not, have the pulling power. Compare being rung up by Lenny Pascoe or Rusty.

Both coaches are ex Storm Michael McGuire and Brad Arthur and have strong financial backing. We are the wrong fit for Cronk he is a winner and ageing we are rebuilding.

Richo from Souths just told Fox Sports they've ruled out a play for Cronk as they've locked in Reynolds and Walker long-term.

Anyway why are we a wrong fit? Yes Cronk is a winner and we desperately need a winner. Souths and Parra have not done much winning the last two seasons (plus 5 rounds) either.

Every team can afford the salary cap, so in terms of strong financial backing, that either means off-field spending or TPAs. Certainly in off-field we are worse off than other clubs, though Cleary might shake that up and there is the new CoE plan. TPAs-wise we just have no idea, it's speculation. Normally heavy TPAs are associated with Roosters / Broncos and they are almost certainly not involved here.

It would be a slam dunk to ring up Uncle Harry and say "let's use next year's TPAs towards Cronk and Tedesco first and foremost".

I think he will only play a year or two with a contender. We are probably at best 2 years away.

Who knows if Cronk can play as well outside of Melbourne and the Qld Origin side. I guess we'll soon find out. Manly, Roosters or the Bulldogs for sure - I'll put my money on the Dogs.

Would love the Puppet Master at WT but does he need us.

The positives he would bring our club are enormous. One of the greatest halves of all time, a winner and 100% professional on and off the field.

If he retires then I would try and sign him up as halves coach and kicking coach.

Gee,people have short memories,Journo's had him coming to Sydney last year so there was some smoke around.Apparently Saints threw out the big money offer pre-Hunt.

All in with Eddie on this one. Should we manage to sign him somehow, it'd make such a massive difference to the place in every shape and form. All of a sudden we'd be much more attractive to other recruits across the park.

Have just seen the NRL 360 replay and he did say that he's going to hold off in making any decision on playing or retiring for a few months, so that may put a further spanner in the works in terms of the market for halves.

Don't know if anyone has said this but,

Anyone see Woods on Nrl 360 say fingers crossed when Paul Kent said Cooper Cronk could end up at the Tigers.

I wouldn't imagine Woods has too much info in regards to Cronk

Unless it was said with nod nod wink wink say no more , a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush , we are taking it one week at a time , I would get too excited

Paul Kent also said on his segment with Andrew Webster, that if he was Cronk he'd avoid Wests and go to Canterbury.
