you pay for simething it is faulty tou expect a refund. nrl should assist the club

Maybe free NRL memberships to stream? I'd hate the think the club has money pulled out of their coffers because of something unforeseen.

Surprise Another Lucker

Que?

Meant to say, “another lurker”... how would giving the free streams for their online platform help to reimburse clubs or even get the players (potentially in near future) their guaranteed earnings from TV rights broadcasts’ if they’re selfishly monopolising the monies in the wake of an apparently pandemic virus.

What if Fox has to actually shut down the workplace? No more televising.

How will KAYO or the game itself stay afloat?

Could be a very bad look for them to shirk responsibility like that, at this time. More of a 1 in, all in approach is suitable here and I think that means more than covering THEIR asses

It was just a suggestion. No need to go to town on me. Just ways for the NRL to recompense fans is all.

NRL MEDIA RELEASE

The National Rugby League (NRL) will follow the advice from Federal and State governments effectively banning mass gatherings, effective from Monday.

This means from Round Two, all games will be played within closed stadiums and spectators will not be allowed to attend Telstra Premiership games until further notice.

Australian Rugby League Commission chair Peter V’landys AM and NRL chief executive officer Todd Greenberg said games will still be played as scheduled, within empty stadiums, with every match broadcast live on TV, radio and streaming services as advertised. Print and digital media will be allowed within venues.

Mr V’landys said, “We know this will be disappointing for fans but we are dealing with uncertain and unprecedented times. We have always maintained we would follow the advice of health authorities to prevent the further spread of the COVID-19 virus. In doing this, we have been in daily contact with Federal and State agencies and with both Prime Minister Scott Morrison and the NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian today."

All Round One games will proceed as planned this weekend. While fans are encouraged to attend this weekend’s matches, anyone who is experiencing any Coronavirus symptoms or feeling unwell are advised to stay away.

Mr Greenberg said: “We respect today’s decision and our absolute priority is doing everything we can to protect our players and fans and reduce the spread of the virus in the general community. We are acutely aware of the impact this decision will have on clubs, players, fans, and members, and the NRL will continue to work with the Clubs to determine how to best manage this disruption. We are dealing with uncertain and unprecedented times but across the game, we are managing it in a collaborative way.”

The Australian Rugby League Commission and NRL management will meet tomorrow to discuss its contingency plans for the 2020 season.

COVID-19 guidelines, reducing player interaction with the general public outside of game days, released by the NRL yesterday will continue to apply. Along with broadcasters, working media will be permitted to attend games to ensure fans continue to receive widespread coverage of their team’s performance and updates.

Mr Greenberg said the game would continue to keep fans updated on developments. “Fans are what makes our game so great and we understand their disappointment but public health must come first. I want to remind all fans that every match will still be broadcast live on television, radio and via streaming services and the daily newspapers and television news will still continue to cover the competition for the fans.”

Why the delay in either instituting this for Round 1 or postponing games.

The Prof (was it Burfett) on Ch9 was adamant there should be no delay and that we had no time to lose to slow the spread of the virus.

Because the government advised that the ban would start Monday. They have said the ban is a precaution so there is no need to ban gatherings immediately!

Why not just sneak a peak through your window
You'll get caught sneaking through the grounds and they will lock you back up again

I’m not here trying to preach to you as I’ve read your line of work, but your above response surprises me. Maybe I’m completely off the mark here, but just my understanding from what I’ve been absorbing of late. This thing isn’t a joke and I think people are getting used to that idea. I reckon the season will be knocked on the head pretty early on. Maybe we’ll be back on for Origin if we’re lucky so the Blues can smash those toads again.

I'm taking it seriously. The question I am asking is how is banning football attendance going to help when 3.5 million Sydney-siders travel into work on Monday and 750K kids go to school and daycare. The PM has told us all that "life should continue as normal" - which is to mean schools, universities, work, shops are not subject to the ban. Nor is travelling or touring. It just seems arbitrary that 500 is the limit set.

They aren't wanting to force close schools because the country cannot handle mass numbers of kids staying home, i.e. parents not working. They don't want people to stop working and nobody wants to lose income because the govt told them to stay home.

So they do half-arsed stuff like banning concerts. But I can go out tonight and get flogged, spew and cough on people - no dramas.

It just seems arbitrary.

Now if the actual strategy is to prepare the population for deeper and more significant bans and embargoes, then fair enough, I can understand that strategy. I can understand why you don't publish it now and in hindsight this might just be the tip of the iceberg.

If they have some sort of data or projection that concerts, football and other mass-gatherings are a higher risk than normal day-to-day life, ok fair enough, but share that data with the people to explain your strategy.

I'm not even cross, though I have member tickets and tix to Magic Round, I'd rather not cancel the trip to Suncorp. It's not about that, it's just about what they've chosen to ban whilst encouraging people to still get up on Monday and catch the train and bus to work. In fact, it will almost certainly be worse, people will be freaking out not wanting to catch public transport, which will mean the roads will be horrendous and parking impossible.

I think it’s going to be fascinating watching games in empty stadiums. Will be able to hear all sorts of things that crowds usually drown out.

Pretty simple mate.

The economy crashes if people cant go to work.

Its no lesser risk just one theyll cop to protect every single one of us.
