This whole thing seems like a media blowup to me. I really don’t think it’s as serious as it’s being made out to be. Seems like it’s almost resolved already with the NRL giving the RLPA a deal about player pay.

The bigger issue is the warriors. They need to know absolutely everything before coming over and it seems they know very little. No one will be training if the warriors aren’t over here

And they could come over here and one day in a player could test positive and the comp gets buried

Lots of people are taking chances .....life happens

Okay, that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t know exactly what the plan is for them, what they’re getting paid, what their support is like etc. They’re entitled to know the whole plan not just come over not knowing what’s happening... pretty selfish to expect that of them

So they come across the Ditch ...find out that the NRL isn't going ahead and have a two week break before going home

Reckon a few of them wouldn't necessarily mind that

Funny though when Darius proposed the same ......

Stop talking sense...

If they are having serious doubts what is stopping them from coming over for 14 days and if it's not resolved to their satisfaction they are not going to be held at gun point forcing them to stay for eternity...go home...

Prepare like everyone else..

I don’t see how this is the players being ‘spoiled brats’. Would you start working a job without knowing your pay? They’re also supporting the Warriors boys who would have to leave their families to come over here and train and they don’t know what they’re getting paid.

The coaches and players have always been in agreement that they won’t start training until the warriors are over here training. If the warriors choose not to fly over here until knowing what they’re being paid that seems fair enough to me

They will be still earning far more than the majority of the population

They are PURPOSELY holding the game to ransom

Put them on the jobseeker allowance for the rest of the season

See how they whinging sooks like that .....

Hap old mate Im on jobseeker the corona supplement,it gives me $1100.00 a fortnight,I can pay bills and survive on that ...unfortunately the NRL boys have had it to good for to long,my money would be a couple of nights out on the piss for them....

It's very poorly organised, poorly managed, poorly communicated by the NRL. The players are 'entitled' to know though? There's the problem. This stuff is still being worked out, no one knows the details yet because it's not sorted yet. They can't be told what no one knows. And all that'll happen is they have less time to train together, even though they are already been paid. For every club that isn't the Warriors, it's all about money, plain and simple, the rest is window dressing.

This is like society on general. At first it was all about being in this together, doing whatever it takes to get through it. Now it's just, what's in it for me, things aren't fair, whinge, whinge whinge.

Deadset how useless is the organisation, the NRL,they have stated a starting date 28th May,they negotiate a broadcast deal, they have made strict biosecurity measures.....yet they haven't made payment plans to the players...dumb I would say...

They haven't sorted the broadcast deal, that is the problem.

I dont know why they said they will 'definitely' start on May 28th. Its certainly not definite. And yes, they said they would give that biosecurity stuff and other information to the players, made that promise public, then didnt do it.

The players have shot themselves in the foot with recent dramas as well. I think it's pretty clear that I wasn't impressed with their threatening of strike action, yes the NRL let them down and should be held to account, but they let themselves down with their behaviour and lack of taking responsibility over their recent obligations to social isolating as well, and there's been no accountability for that from the players that I have heard.

Dumb dumb all around.

What a ridiculous statement. You think the players would enjoy leaving their wives to look after their children by themselves in the middle of a strict lockdown for two weeks? Clearly they DONT want to take that risk considering they’re not coming over until they know the details

It’s not the players fault it’s not organised. The NRL shouldn’t of set the date so early if they aren’t organised. They were TELLING the players everything would be organised and they’d know everything before they’ve started training. That’s turned out to be a lie and that’s why the players (the NZ boys particularly) are upset.

The thing is, the NRL would’ve expected all that to be sorted now so the warriors would fly over knowing everything.

Channel 9 having a tantrum about how many rounds and how much they have to pay delayed the broadcast deal which in turn delayed figuring out the rest of it. Sacking the CEO in the middle of all that certainly didn’t help.

End of the day it was delayed by pointless whining by channel 9 which may push the season even further back

I'm no fan of Ch 9 at all. I refuse to watch NRL on that station. I have a Fox Sports subscription purely to watch NRL.

But when you blame 9 for a potential delay in the start of the season, I think you, and many others, are missing the point. The blame should be sheeted home to the leadership of V'Landys.

Due diligence in key matters of communication with clubs (take the Warriors as an example), broadcast rights and now player payments shows the man is a dud leader. And, more to the point, 9, the RLPA and Clubs know it and are going to play hardball with him.

I blame both. Channel 9 delayed the broadcast deal but V’landys set the date too early and promised to be organised by now but they aren’t.

Correct lol. They keep expecting the players to stay out of trouble and be good, and keep giving them small punishments and yet they keep stuffing up. Set the bar very low for these players they’re morons

The cut for the top 8 n 2020 was 25 points

The projected cut off for 2020 top 8 is 20 points with 25 points for the top 4

that means we have to win a a minimum of 9 games out of the rest of the season if we want to make the 8...

thats not to much to ask is it
