A mate of mine was sent home by his boss and told to get a covid test and not return until he was clear.
All because the boss saw a picture of my mate on social media, having a beer with someone from the northern beaches.
This northern beaches person does not have covid and has not been to s suspect venue.
My mate also has zero symptoms.
Does this seem wrong to anyone else?
The test is a bit much but sending home until the situation is clearer is defensible. I hate saying "its my opinion", as it isn't much of an argument but in this case it is my subjective view. A small loss of choice earlier this year has given us months of relative freedom.
As long as the employee is getting paid for any scheduled work after being directed to leave it is fine by me.
Regardless if they are paid by the employer (*edit: I think they should be) or not they should leave and get tested. This has the potential to explode, Victoria style. They may be able to claim The NSW Pandemic Leave Disaster Payment. It was setup just for those occasions.
This person hasn't had contact with someone with covid, if their employer wants them to go home then they should pay them.
