Surely there’s 150 Mount Druitt locals who know a bit about sailing ..?

Yeah surely someone learnt to sail at the old Mount Druitt Waterworks? lol

Too busy putting razor blades in the slides.

Is that a true story? I have heard it about a 1000 times.

Urban myth I think.

Yeah I thought so, I used to teach in Mount Druitt and the number of times I heard that story is amazing.

Spent eight years in Blackett. Well traveled story.

It was just kids from poor and indigenous families when I was there. Probably a bit more diverse now.

It was like that when I was there too, never had some of the experiences I had there anywhere else. My first ever day teaching was on the IM class there, that was an eye opener.

Its a very entrenched myth though. Even now kids in Mount Druitt still talk about it and the Waterworks closed in the 90's.

Don’t know how it lasted that long. I still remember the day a bloke aqua planed off the nice new big slide where you had to cross your legs and put your hands behind your head. As he came down and hit the water at the bottom he took off, straight through the lifeguards leg and into the fence. Carted away in an ambulance. Suffice to say after what I saw I have never been on one of those slides.

Our contact tracing measures have been gold standard. I trust they will help mitigate the spread before we hit Victorian levels of spread. I would also hope the government announce appropriate restrictions.

Maybe not. Cases being reported on Central Coast, Raymond Terrace and Forster. I think we might see a real.spike along the coast over the holidays.

If the Northern Beaches can't get its act together, Operation Shire Freedom will be launched. The Heathcote, Alford's Point, Rail Bridge, Tom Ugly's and Taren Point Bridges will be destroyed. Keep your Covid at The Spit.

I would assume the spit bridge is up for the next 14 days?

Some of us who live here in the insular peninsular wish the bridge was left up permanently!!

So do those of us who don’t live on the peninsula!!?

Grubs ?

Coronavirus has been detected in sewage samples on the Gold Coast Townsville North Cairns and Cleveland Queensland's Chief Health Officer (CHO) says.

Lucky it's not covid19

South Africa is saying there's a mutated version of covid doing the rounds there that seems to affect young healthy adults more.

And in the UK there's a more contagious strain exploding.

The variant in the UK is centered around the London area and is apparently more contagious but is not believed to be more lethal

I dont think (I dont know though) that they know if it is more or less lethal. They do know that this new strain has jumped from 28% of new cases to 68% of cases very quickly.

Which strangely enough could be fantastic news for the UK. If its true that this new strain is so much more contagious (28-68% quickly suggests it is) AND it was less lethal, it could actually spell the end of the virus because the new strain would outcompete the old and it would be possible that the new strain could eradicate the old. It would effectively be a natural vaccine.

They dont know the lethality of the new strain but naturally they are hoping it is not resistant to the vaccines that have been developed. As you say it could possibly also be the mutation which effectively shuts down covid-19(if we are lucky as we where with the so called spanish flu after WW1).
