How about these protests in Melbourne . “ someone is making me stay home for a couple of days . RAGGGEEE” .
Whether you believe or not . Just have a few beers and go down a Netflix binge hole . Seriously . What’s the big deal .

I can understand it totally. If I had a business and a mortgage in Victoria and the whole state is totally locked down for the sake of a handful of community cases. I would be raging. WE didnt lock a whole state down here and it was brought under control quickly and safely. He doesnt trust his systems, maybe he is right.

Double post

I like this one better than the previous one tbh. You're yet another "let's take a courageous keyboard swipe at Dan Andrews" opportunist, it seems

Apparently Victoria has higher quarantine standards than NSW. That's what he said before the latest leak. And it is not the leak that is the concern, it is how you respond and already Vic contact tracing is again under scrutiny, hence another lockdown to buy time.

He has a lot to answer for not the least the second most populous State taking only 36,000 returned Australians against the 125,000 taken by NSW.

The Labor Party need to come up with something a bit more useful than the mantra that it is a Fed issue. It would be a good start to replace Albanese with Jim Chalmers, Penny Wong or Tanya Plibersek.

Yes I am a Labor voter but I will not blindly follow the master of spin in Victoria.

And, I agree that there should be change in ALP leadership. But, as a "rusted on" Labor voter, I won't be piling into the opportunistic rants against Dan Andrews or Mark McGowan or Annastasia P (too difficult to spell.....lol). ***If Scummo wants to abrogate his responsility for national health and safety***, then let the state premiers lead their states without the oppostunistic rubbish that others throw at them.

I know its a national sport to kick the feds, but health and safety are a state responsibility, funded partially federally.

I am critical of Vics approach, but as a NSW resident Australian, I am glad that is what is happening, because after what has happened before I am not confident that they can track and trace and control it like NSW and the last thing we need is another blowout to hundreds a day again.

EDIT: Genuinely mindful of FG's previous post about interstate politics. I genuinely dont mean it politically

It just must be so hard on the Victorian people though, I am glad I am in NSW.

Can't stop Australian citizens returning home. Irrespective as to why they are overseas and taken so long to return, I am uncomfortable with stopping Australian passport holders from coming home.

Often the return home is not a simple task...

My niece is in the UK and has 8 flights canceled over a 5 month period..She can't afford the 35K+ asking rate for a first class flight offered..so she has to wait..esp since Emirates stpped flights

I don't see why it wouldn't be possible for the Federal to do a massive push with chartered flights from central hubs and just get it done

I feel it is really disgusting that Our Feds haven't done a **MUCH BETTER** job in getting Our citizens home, at least on an 'at needs' priority basis, as long as they are Covid tested and found not to have the virus prior to their departure.
But do we/have we had the appropriate quarantine capacity to handle a 'massive push'?

And receive a vaccine shot before you depart

Whilst you have such striking differences in management of something literally as important as life and death, if not at least involving livelihoods, you are going to have people discussing the differences.

My favourite day light savings quote was a letter to the paper that stated they didn't want daylight savings because it would fade their curtains.

WAers that want to break away from Australia should move to Carnac Island

I'm glad I am in Cairns
This virus is ruthless in its spread and i do feel for all those who have been in lockdown

Everyone suffers
Even though Cairns has largely escaped the spread of the virus, the tourism industry has copped one hell of a hit up here
For those who know these tourism companies skyrail will be operating weekends only
Tjabukai cultural centre has closed its doors permanently
Quicksilver has made redundant many staff but have asked them to re apply for jobs with a restructure required due to major losses last year
These are the 3 major tourism companies in Cairns, and most people visiting Cairns would go on at least one of these
Not to mention all the smaller operators who have not been able to hold on

On the other hand the building industry is booming up here at the moment and we are struggling for trades and materials
I am lucky enough to be in that industry but also feel for those struggling

Every weekend my wife and I support our local establishments close to where we live to try and help them keep their doors open
Most seem to be doing OK at the moment
But that can change quickly

Although most wouldn't agree, I believe lockdowns are important in keeping this virus under control
To simply let it take its course or relax these lockdown laws are not the answer just at the moment
But with the new vaccine arriving today, hopefully we can all start getting back to a little more normality
