WHO are a joke at this stage.

A specialist cited by the ABC this morning also implied the lab statement was as much about politics as anything else:

"They quickly dismissed possible unnatural origins, which was expected, given the political sensitivities, not just for China, but for the world," Raina MacIntyre, an infectious disease specialist at the University of New South Wales, said.

**She questioned what evidence was presented to fully rule out the theory."**

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-02-14/china-coronavirus-who-investigation-comes-up-empty/13144756

She was also rather critical of the WHO investigation more broadly.

Don't you also need substantial evidence to prove a theory!? Of which in this case it's more about finding blame rather than facts.

It's pretty obvious now that unless DA WHO concludes that it started in a lab then this part of the world will call any conclusions a scam and claim everyone's been paid off.

Personal bias and preconceptions won't allow this the transparency it deserves.

Eh? I never claimed it started in a lab.

Not saying you did. Referring to the person from the article.

Neither did the person from the article. They are however questioning the motives of those trying to rule out the lab leak hypothesis without falsifying evidence.

Didn't say they did either. But she did refer to the 'Lab Leak Theory'... She questioned what evidence was presented to fully rule out the Theory...

I'm getting confused now, you say Hypothesis, she says Theory. Can't be both

Transparency it deserves? It doesnt deserves any transparency. The whole of the world is correct to scoff at their findings.

The WHO sent Peter Daszac to investigate whether it is possible if the virus escaped the WIV BS4 Lab at Wuhan as part of their gain of function research into bat coronaviruses. Peter Daszac has spent the last 15 years conducting gain of function research into bat coronaviruses at the WIV BS4 Lab at Wuhan. He has funnelled at least US$40M into that lab of US taxpayers dollars. How the hell is there any transparency in that?

All that proves is he loves the moolah and he's no different to any politician running this country.
But it's beside the point that certain parts of da world have preconceived opinions that the commies must be held accountable and any findings that don't prove this should be discredited.

At least wait for their report to come out before you inevitably tear it to shreds

If they send the man who was paid $40M to research gain of function viruses in WIV, to investigate the gain of function virus research in WIV, I don tthink we need to wait for the findings to judge the authenticity of the investigation. What is he going to say "oops looks like what we have been doing is dangerous, shoudld I pay the grants back?"

The WHO are not even trying to appear impartial.

A very interesting and informative discussion on the origin of the virus and the recent WHO investigation. Start at 18:50

It would only be informative and interesting if it suited your RWNJ agenda @Tiger5150. So, no thanks.

OK, you obviously didnt listen but they explain all of the different hypothesis. They are both internationally acclaimed scientists with PhD's in biology, his work in telomeres led to a Nobel Prize. He was one of the organisers and participants in "Occupy Wall Street" but yeah,,,,,,,right wing.

Very good open minded objective opinion you have there.

Well, if someone has the RWNJ "form" that you do, I wouldn't entertain anything you recommended. Life is too short to countenance fools.

Happy for you to point to any post of mine that forwards a RW agenda. Take your time.

Life is too short but you take the time to respond to my posts.

I don’t engage in conversation with anyone who labels someone a right wing fool without even listening to the subject of the posts. Says a lot more about you than me. Enjoy your sheltered existence.

Just checking. Is posting opinions from world renown biologists crap that should be cut out?

Double post

I like this one better than the previous one tbh. You're yet another "let's take a courageous keyboard swipe at Dan Andrews" opportunist, it seems

Apparently Victoria has higher quarantine standards than NSW. That's what he said before the latest leak. And it is not the leak that is the concern, it is how you respond and already Vic contact tracing is again under scrutiny, hence another lockdown to buy time.

He has a lot to answer for not the least the second most populous State taking only 36,000 returned Australians against the 125,000 taken by NSW.

The Labor Party need to come up with something a bit more useful than the mantra that it is a Fed issue. It would be a good start to replace Albanese with Jim Chalmers, Penny Wong or Tanya Plibersek.

Yes I am a Labor voter but I will not blindly follow the master of spin in Victoria.

And, I agree that there should be change in ALP leadership. But, as a "rusted on" Labor voter, I won't be piling into the opportunistic rants against Dan Andrews or Mark McGowan or Annastasia P (too difficult to spell.....lol). If Scummo wants to abrogate his responsility for national health and safety, then let the state premiers lead their states without the oppostunistic rubbish that others throw at them.

When I think of Kerry Chant and Gladys, I recall their repeated reference to mental health and the impact locking down has on individuals as well as business. I speak to friends in Vic each day during lockdown and ask RUOK? It's not political but Kerry Chant and Gladys have this fine tuned whereas locking down an entire State for 16 cases seems excessive? Read the SMH comments and it is obvious regular Vic contributors are really struggling. I feel for them and businesses which may go under.

Without judgement, I feel it is important to note that NSW reached it's first period of 28 days without local transmission yesterday, being the first recognised period of being virus free, since Covid hit our shores.

Why the "without judgement". I think its an awesome achievement and should be celebrated.

So do I and that is why I wrote it, with the other just prelude in line with my earlier state v state and mate v mate post and a remnant from an edit prior to posting.

On the back of that milestone, in between I have attended a paediatric appointment this morning at Wyong Hospital and noticed much change on the back of it, with no mask requirement or local hotspot questioning etcetera. There were even parking spaces available with the nearby Covid clinic looking very quiet. A situation that I cannot recall in nearly a year.

Couldn't agree more. As far as Im concern politics and personal political biases have no place in these types of situations/discussions (especially here in Oz when compared to the ROW)

Really solid effort from the people of NSW to hit a new virus free record.

As much as politicians want to claim it, the people of NSW deserve the credit.

I've been on public transport a lot and see close to 100% of people wearing masks and sitting in the right spot.

It's a similar story everywhere else I go, shops, restaurants, pubs, the gym. People keeping a safe distance, cleaning hands and doing whatever else they can to keep things running safely.

How about these protests in Melbourne . “ someone is making me stay home for a couple of days . RAGGGEEE” .
Whether you believe or not . Just have a few beers and go down a Netflix binge hole . Seriously . What’s the big deal .

I know the big lockdown impacted the mental health of many Melbournians especially those living alone. To lock down an entire State for 16 cases seems excessive. I like Vic and feel for all businesses and residents going through another lockdown.
