Good on Western Australia for continuing with a goal of zero covid.

They are showing up other governments who have failed, and who are trying to mask their failure by stating "you can't have zero with delta". Well Western Australia, and New Zealand, shows you can.

They'll fail as well. It's just a matter of time.

You are right the rest of the world is now living with it in there communities… it’s fools gold to believe it’s not coming .. my advice get prepared as it is COMING to you all soon ! Get vaccinated..

People think their politics or their will power or something is going to win the battle against a virus. It ain't happening people.

If Gladys had done a hard lock down of the Eastern Suburbs this would be over by now. 'We have to accept it' is an excuse for failure, failures that New Zealand and most other Australian states aren't making.

I'm not doubting a lockdown should have been implemented quicker. That is obvious now.

I guarantee you are wrong through long term though.

But as vaccination rates rise it should get easier to defend zero cases, rather than harder. If somewhere like NZ or WA has effectively kept it to zero without widespread vaccination, I don't see why they will struggle with widespread vaccination.

I agree it is probably too hard to get NSW back to zero, as it has been allowed to become an absolute debacle here, but better managed jurisdictions should be able to defend zero if they have tough borders.

I agree with you as well. The thing is it's not a black and white issue. You need really high vaccinations and even then the expectation is that there will be outbreaks.

Read the Doherty report which they are basing policy off. It assumes with a high vaccination rate there will be outbreaks and they aren't so easy to get under control.

This Delta strain is significantly more infectious. It's the dominant strain in a couple of months across the world.

Gladys gets the issue. She is making it very clear we need to get to a high vaccination rate and get cases down.

Even at 80% double dose plus 0 cases we will need some restrictions. It's crazy.

Gladys just said you can't let it rip at any point.

I live in Rural NSW by the way, near Canberra and Im in the over 40s with health issues group.

I contacted NSW Health through the recommended channels to get my first dose of Pfizer. (I waited patiently until they contacted me.) After a week or so, I finally got an appointment time in about two and a half weeks.

Half a week before my appointment, they contacted me to say my appt will be rescheduled, as they were sending all the vaccines up to Sydney. Not impressed.

So I went through the ACT system, and was able to book one in less than a week. I've had that now, and have my next one in a couple of weeks.

NSW Health have now contacted me with a new appointment time. I will let them know they can give that time to someone else, but I am very disappointed at this whole thing.

It seems that in this case, people who don't live in Sydney are valued by NSW Health as less important or less at risk then those in Sydney - yet they are suffer the same consequences as going into lockdown as Sydney does. Now, I will go into lockdown and do what's right for the people of our country, but the authorities can go get stuffed as far as I am concerned. When they treat people like that, then I hope they expect to be viewed disrespectfully.

Its a weird set up and I dont have any confidence in it. The AZ roll out seems to make sense and you can go on the NSW Services page and make that booking but for Pfizer, you end up having to book privately and their doesnt seem to be coordination of earliest possible dates, you just seem to get in the queue at that practice.

The Bunnings one is interesting, I can see why it is important for it to be open.

I believe it should be Trade only.

If I have a tap go or something like that, I need to be able to purchase another.

I'll just add that I haven't been to Bunnings during this lockdown lol.

Call a plumber ..
All non trades should be banned from Bunnings period .

I don't like to pay for plumbers, just like I don't pay for painters.

House is looking sharp mate !

I don't like paying for anything. My house looks really sharp.

Probably a new build ..
Painters .. most trusted profession !

We will see how that goes once the rest of Aus is at 70-80% vaxxed and open the doors.

Sure, it's not going to be easy for any state to stop this variant once it is well seeded, though that is the whole point of stopping it before it takes hold. This strain has been beaten here in Australia and was well known before it hit our shores, just as was the UK Alpha variant mutation that preceded it and Gamma in SA.

Genome sequencing shows that Queensland, South Australia, Victoria, ACT and the Northern Territory have all been affected because it wasn’t adequately addressed here in NSW.

I don't want others resigned to our forlorn fate of months until we get out of this, so encourage those outside NSW to take all measures necessary to get to zero and out of it. Weeks long lockdowns are much better than months and we want to be able to watch our WT as long as we can, so keep up the good work.

We will see how that goes once the rest of Aus is at 70-80% vaxxed and open the doors.

Their doors are already open. If you are strict at the border and jump on cases as soon as they happen, then you can live as free as you want.

The jurisdictions that are tough on covid have their doors open, the defeatist jurisdictions that just want to live with it are locked up at home.

That works today, not sure it will once we hit vax targets.

I also think its pretty significant that all inbound flights to Aus for returning people are through Sydney and none via Perth. THat is where this current outbreak came from.

I agree on that, I have previously made it it clear that I think we are letting in too many people, the more flights the harder it is to manage.

I had the same problem a couple of years back when just drifting off to sleep and feeling an increasingly irritating feeling in my eye. Looked in the mirror and went whoa!, and it only got worse

Took many weeks to heal properly.

She keeps going on about the 70+ low vaccination rate which is what kills me as well. It’s crazy. It’s honestly bonkers.

Then why not open up the half million plus nearly out of date recently arrived Pfizer vaccines up to them? Other states have done so without such additional volume.

Not allowing what would surely be many thousands of the more vulnerable to be fully protected within the next five to six weeks seems completely bonkers to me.

I dont think its an availability issue for the +70's, they are prioritised for AZ.
