Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon is at again infuriating China by referring to it as the China virus. I'll side with Trumpy on this one as he's 100% correct.

Atm i agree, it is the China virus. When the dust settles the Chinese government will have alot of Qs to answer for screwing the world over and for failing to control this month's ago.

Conspiracy warning off the back of that.

It targets the aged, China has a population and aging problem. Aged are high cost and don’t invest in the economy. The youth are hardly being confirmed as having COVID-19. There are a few articles that are starting to call out this conspiracy within China.

Except when racists see that as a dog whistle to attack Asian’s. And don’t say that wouldn’t happen.

In this case Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon was responding to Chinese officials promoting a conspiracy theory that America is behind it all.

This one is all on China (the government, not the people). Fancy arresting doctors who were trying to warn about it. The response was very reminiscent of the early response to Chernobyl: put the party first, and cover up til it's too late.

I went down a conspiracy rabbit hole this morning. Do not make this mistake or you'll start questioning everything!

I'm now not sure now if this is not China's plan to retaliate against Trumps trade deals earlier in the year and destabilize the western market, dump stock prices and quietly buy up large chunks of the market and in essence take over more the globe with no army....or if its a CIA operation to take the focus off high level sex offenders or if its just that bats are so damn tasty. Who knows.

Mate, time to remove the tin foil hat!

This started because of China's poor regulation of its wet markets. While wet markets have a lot of benefits to local communities, China's lack of regulation in this area has led to some wet markets mixing with the live animal trade. The problem lies not so much in the wet markets but in the trading of live animals.

The Chinese also consume a lot of exotic meats, which in itself isn't a large problem if done correctly but again through poor regulation this has mixed with the live animal trade. What you end up with is some wet markets, such as the one in Wuhan that it is possible to buy live exotic animals to slaughter and consume! This leads to a super virus breeding ground where they are bringing animals in from all over the world that are stresses and carrying diseases from their part of the world. Many of these diseases are Zoonotic and can be transmitted from species to species, mutating along the way to best damage each new host. Eventually making the leap to humans and then we have your SARS, Avian flu, Covid19 issues.

It is really simple when you think about it!

I agree! I have seen these markets throughout Asia first hand and they are awful and i think this will shed some much needed light & focus on the practice.

My post was a little tongue in cheek.

That makes sense cochise but is there actual proof this is where it all began?

The working theory is still the wet market in Wuhan that was trading in exotic live animals, SARS was found to have started in another wet market that was slaughtering chickens when you bought them!

Yeah, coupling that with the removal of the one-child policy, it lends circumstantial evidence to it but I do doubt it. Everyone has parents, and emphasis on the family unit is very much deeply rooted in many Asian cultures. If it got out the CCP were offing the elderly I don't think the populace would cop it. The soldiers in the People's Army are human too and have families, all it would take it to flip the armed forces and the government would be rooted.

Wet markets themselves have huge benefits to the health and economy of communities, it is when they start mixing with the exotic live animal trade that the problems start. Keeping live, poorly treated and stressed animal of a variety of species that have zoonotic diseases is just a breeding ground for these types of killer viruses.

Guys - China is to blame for this outbreak but plenty of other countries have caused outbreaks in the past.

I think the real question is do we stop eating meat ?

Alot of Asian countries e.g. Vietnam have no superannuation policies and therefore, children fund their parents retirement and look after them. These conspiracy theories aren't hard to believe at all.

Regardless of where it may have originated, as with the Spanish flu, where the first cases were discovered gets naming rights which can last 100 years or more.

Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon's China comments are a low act from a bloke looking to deflect blame ahead of the election.

At work we are in contact directly with China. They've been doing it just as tough as everyone else and have taken a massive economic hit.

The difference is that their government brought in lockdown laws really quickly and managed to slow the spread down.

This is simply not true. China ignored this outbreak, silenced and detained whistleblowers and actively covered up and withheld information for over two months. When it reached the point of 4-5k new infections a day they cracked down HARD, welding doors shut and forcefully detaining people.

Whereas our government has told us to stop shaking hands and going to the footy.

Lets get real, as much as bagging the Govt & Scomo is the new national sport replacing Cricket AFL & League, Federal Government were the second nation in the world to ban flights from China & Iran and made significant restrictions....when our totals were less than 200.

I fear that history will show they handled it way better than the west.

History will show the CCP to be the most brutal regime of all time responsible for more deaths (excluding COVID) than Hitler & Stalin. The reason that they were able to close things down is that they have zero consideration for human rights. Do you suggest that Scomo should start kicking down doors and forcibly detaining people, welding peoples doors shut?

Spanish flu did not originate in Spain. They were neutral in WWI so they had a freely reporting press so it was attributed to Spain since they openly reported it first, whereas the Allies and Germans did not want it getting out their troops and civilians were ill. The theory is that it likely originated in the USA.

I don't mind a good conspiracy theory haha. But the idea that they deliberately did this to kill off the elderly is just silly.

I mean, think about it for a second. "Hey comrades, looking after all these elderly people is expensive and bad for our economy. So to save our economy, let's introduce a virus that will force us to shut down our economy".

At least our super will look good with Woolies and Coles doing a roaring trade.

I wish, my super has lost $49,975 in just 3 weeks, banking on it bouncing back when it's all over.

Jeez mate I'm sorry to hear... That's awful.

Self managed PPM, or industry fund?

Industry fund, planned retirement date is 3 years away so plenty of time for it to rebound and I expect it to recover most losses eventually, feel more for those that were planning retirement in the next 12 months.

On a plus note managed to pick up a pack of TP yesterday and didn't get mugged on the way out of the store, wooohooo.

Does it really matter where it started ...it's the world flu now

This is NOT the time to be placing blame ...now is the time to keep everyone around you safe and well and find a solution /vaccine as quickly as possible
