It’s very complicated due to the change in internal structures and rearranging of organs to allow for flight. A deeper analysis does need to me undertaken but initial reports are that the swine flu does not affect flying pigs only ground dwellers

If anyone but our present premier in NSW was in charge i would say it was almost certain to shutdown again but he used to argue with Gladys and was against shutdowns when she was in power.It is not as certain as it was before imo and i feel he will quite possibly ignore recomendations from the medical profession

I do agree with you that if Gladys was still in power we would definitely be in lockdown again now or at least after Christmas at best and yes I heard the same thing that he was against the lockdown and while I understand why the decision was made to go into lockdown the government cannot simply just keep putting us in lockdown we have to learn to live with it most of the people in NSW have been vaccinated of course I hope it does get under control they’ll probably tell us that after 6 months of getting your second dose they’ll make it mandatory to get the booster shot not unless the numbers drop in the next few weeks I did hear on my way to work this morning the possibility of masks and QR codes coming back which I think will happen given the case numbers but we simply cannot keep going into lockdown each time there’s a rise in cases the virus isn’t going away I will say the decision to open overseas shouldn’t have happened yet but I don’t think that wasn’t the premiers decision think that was Scott Morrison to open the country to foreigners again its hard for the people that live in Sydney and Melbourne since most foreigners that come here mostly hear about those 2 cities and want to come here to see them the last time Melbourne went into lockdown it became the most locked down city in the entire world not saying Sydney will follow suit but we can’t just keep doing lockdowns its not fair to the people that own businesses that are deemed not essential and cannot work and having to rely on Centrelink to get by not sure if we will go into lockdown or not but we simply cannot keep doing that we have to learn to live with it it’ll eventually settle down as every pandemic does but we have to move forward not keep going backwards

2251 new cases today, I fear we may have jumped the gun when it comes to making masks not mandatory in enclosed areas.

We just reopened the economy during a pandemic. This shouldn’t surprise anyone. I didn’t get the vaccine to then go and hide away from the virus. Will probably still mask up in populated places.

I do think all govts have really stuffed up on the reopening strategy. The country should have been domestically reopened at the start of November when there would have been less travel and less intermingling at parties etc. To open up at a time that is traditionally the busiest time of the year for domestic travel, parties etc is madness. The perfect example is Qld - went 6 months with no restrictions and within 1 week of reopening have applied restrictions to inhabitants. Don't see Palaszczuk crowing now.

Restrictions being implemented for the unvaccinated were always part of the opening back up procedures and that was upon reaching the 80% target. That being the agreed objective for the nation, not just individual states or territories, so right on schedule for Queensland.

Although it is an inconvenience, personally am looking forward to the checking in, masking and vaccination requirements that create a more measured response when I go there on Thursday. Crazy though that masks are required at indoor retail, but nightclubs which are the real hotspots have none, though luckily I won't be clubbing.

Not extending the existing requirements structure on Wednesday here in NSW was a ridiculously risky move. The system was working with a mostly compliant community masking and using QR codes that informed us by notification within a relatively short period if we had been a casual or close contact with a case and make decisions based on such knowledge.

Now they are asking cases to contact people they were with and how many are going to know even more than a few in premises at that time. Rank stupidity in the face of rising numbers leading up to the change and even moreso when not taking the advice of CHO Chant.
