Not at all. I'm just trying to put the whole situation in perspective especially in the context of how we and in general western nations have handled the crisis.

Just for transparency I do have 10's of millions of dollars invested in the Chinese government.

Honestly I don't give a flying whatever about the Chinese government. I'm just trying to understand this whole situation rationally and calmly.

But some of the stigma affecting the Italian healthcare system is ridiculous ATM and the diversionary journalism of ‘People’s’ Reporters in China to try and divert blame/suspicion away is only further damaging their image. I truly do wish them all the best. The issue I have is with Shlomo

I'm not into politics at all so I don't really pay attention to this stuff. Previously I've found Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon likable but in this situation I can see how incompetent he is. As for the Italian health system I have no idea if it is good or bad but I suspect any country that has that amount of infections is going to cop it bad. The point is the system gets overwhelmed and this is from a virus that is basically pretty weak.

I understand that - but at the same time never tried to get into specifics or even semantics.

We are talking about the image of ??

And who’s being seen as liable... to pay

It looks like Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon may be finally getting it.

This is what I'm trying to get at. If you want to criticize China be my guest. They should cop it. If you think they are the only problem here you are very wrong. Personally I have a lot more confidence in China than any other western government when it comes to handling this situation.

Yeah, China handled it magnificently from the get-go?.

China should have been locked down from the get go. What did the rest of the world think would happen by letting people come and go?

China took actions like that. The western world is now taking similar actions but they are behind the curve. We also don't have the same mentality in relation to how to handle these situations because we don't realize how bad it is. The concept of social distancing is alien to us. For instance I saw Matty Johns laughing and shaking Blake Fergusons hand the other day.

How long did it take China to act? No good locking the gate once the horse has bolted champ.

Italy is a totally different system to us..they have 3 Major hospitals one in Milan one in Rome and their University Hospital in Perugia ..the rest even in the larger Cities are more like a County Practice..they also have very few GP's or medical centres...you get sick there you go to a hospital..it is no wonder it spread so rapidly...the care you receive is exceptional though..this I know from experience..

I really can't see this happening.

Absolutely. Can you see the top 5% of that country foregoing their stake in its future to secure the health of the bottom line?

Some of whom are cast off as inadequate to represent the family name... lot of moving parts in what I just said but that was the core issue of what I was alluding to and not any perceived racism rant as many of my close kin and those dear to me are my Asian family and co-people.

It’s much more than basic politics involved at play here and as I also said let’s instead all wish for every other loving soul who ain’t got it so great, to be able to get through this all.

No hate, thx for informing me BTW as it clears misinformation for starters - but always helps add to the rich fabric of any story involving our precariously placed reality.

Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon lying about the situation is cool though. I think we know where you are coming from.

Where I'm coming from? What do you mean by that?
I would have heard Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon utter less than 200 words since he's been in office TBH. Politics is hands down the most boring thing in the world to me. TV gets turned over as soon as politics make an appearance.

The people of China should be separated from the Chinese regime in these discussions.

The Chinese people themselves have nothing to do with this, but the Chinese government should be slammed for trying to keep a lid on their doctors during the initial outbreak. Given the carnage this has and will cause, people have every right to be angry about it.

It was incredibly irresponsible of them if nothing else and now the rest of us have to pay the bill.

To add: People calling for "solidarity" need to realise it goes both ways. Where is the Chinese government sense of solidarity in hiding this virus and essentially exporting to the world costing trillions upon trillions of dollars. We should call out unscrupulous governments just as quickly as we call out racism imho.

Very very very accurate and good post.

My wife is Chinese and I know the Chinese community. They are lovely people. They push in and fight for stuff and are fixated with making money not because they are rude but because, in China, if they aren’t like that they don’t survive. Get past that and you will not find a more gentle hospitable race of people.

But the Chinese government has Them all brainwashed. They are incredibly controlling and demanding. They rule through might and misinformation.

So accurate. I too have dated many Chinese girls and have many business contacts in China. The people are sound on the whole and welcome you with open arms, but you're right when you say the CCP has them all brainwashed. Many only realise how bad it is when they move out of the country.

Solid. Love ya work, Wests Tigers

Japan my favourite destination so far and many, many other smaller island nations on agenda!

I wonder how many banks will be willing to pause loans ? Unless there is an emergency stop to protect people then that's the real fear for me. Damage like that takes a long time to recover from and we've already seen people are not resilient.

I wonder how capitalism can survive this unless it has a "pause" button we haven't seen before. I'm not trying to be inflammatory, my thoughts are based on the fact that markets seem to be struggling to balance supply and demand and western consumers no longer understand why they can't buy their way to instant gratification.

If there wasn't a chance that people I love, and many of our elders, might suffer terribly then I would find it very interesting.

A pause on repayments would be a great way for the banks to repay the nation, allow them to still charge interest. It would never happen but that would be a way of us all being in this together!

Just saw the most recent conspiracy theory on the net.

Coronavirus was made in a Chinese laboratory and released on the population to correct their population spread that had been caused by the one child policy.

In other words there were way too many old people that could no longer financially contribute and not enough young people to support them, or provide the government with enough income.

So they released a virus to kill the elderly and rebalance their population pyramid.

My wife’s family know I like beer. So there is bottle after bottle put in front of me starting from breakfast. But it doesn’t affect me. Drank 17 long necks with my wife’s son and I carried him to his bed. I was still sober!
But ‘ganbei’ with XO! Different story??

Banks have been very helpful to people recently. I know one bank that will pay three months worth of payments for customers impacted by the fires. Pay not pause. They also offered cash to the same people as well.

The cynical me says they are just trying to earn some good will but Who cares they are helpIng those people and business that have been impacted by the fires and corona as well.

The reality for banks will be lose lose for them.
They will have to work out ways to support so people stay with them and they keep their business afloat.
