When I mentioned countries reaching 500 cases a day I didn't think we'd have to worry about 500 cases a year ....... 464 today in Australia today

Spreading to regional Vic which no doubt is why further NSW Police have been sent to Albury. It is long overdue to shut the border. If Vics want the convenience of NSW, they should live in Albury not Wodonga. It is unrealistic to expect ongoing access in view of the numbers.

Listening to a representative of the aged care providers earlier and couldn't believe that there are still allowing some staff to work at up three centres. This is particularly unacceptable during a pandemic and should have been stopped months ago!

As I wrote weeks back, no great problem with previous policies from much earlier in the response both here and elsewhere, but the industry and governments should have learnt better lessons from the Newmarch disaster, along with other homes.

IMHO, it shall be some flexibility of the borders, it could be frustrating that one cannot commute say 20km to work or shopping!

Another 275 cases overnight down here in Victoria plus another death. This follows on from 363 cases new cases in the prior 24 hours and 3 more deaths during the weekend. Victoria now has almost 3000 active cases.
And while all that's going on police have found 20 people partying in a short term rental apartment. So they're all going to be fined $1652 each. Somehow I don't feel that's enough. I'd like to see something that would really get their attention. Not jail time, but withdrawal of a privilege. Maybe suspension of a driver's licence for 3 or 6 months would wake a few people up.

Tough times for the Vics now. Let's hope Dan Andrews can get matters under control quickly. To lose all those elderly is a tragic outcome.

I can’t really blame the casual worker for working at multiple sites to make a living. It’s the systematic casualisation of the workforce that has come back to bite us in the Pandemic. It needs a major re-think.

The Commonwealth has asked for Vic help and RNs are being redeployed to private aged care facilities. Vic Govt hospitals to assist. Most non urgent elective surgery is cancelled. Vic Health Minister. n tears at oress conf. ADF nurses deployed to assist.
