Anothony Mundine 'fighting the power' by going to Bunnings without a mask and refusing to check in. Who would have thought a man of such profound intelligence would have boarded the covid conspiracy theory train.

Went to buy a hand tool due to having a screw loose.

He wouldn't be able to find anything at Bunnings that he would be smart enough to use.

Apparently Australia is now the start of the one world order if you ask some people. I am Christian and I'm not buying it at all.

What does that mean for the average punter..?

The New World Order (NWO) is a conspiracy theory which hypothesizes a secretly emerging totalitarian world government.

Get some special sunglasses and you will be able to identify the individuals involved.

Better still, send anyone that talks about such crap a copy of the movie They Live.

So the highly-vaccinated UK opening right up again is going to be a massive test. If it fails and their health system can't cope, which is looking quite possible, then basically there's no going back to normal for any of us for many many years, even with vaccines. I'm feeling really pessimistic right now.

Another 124 with 48 out in the community in NSW.
What the hell is wrong with you people. Why can't you all just do the right thing for a short period of time for the greater good?
Too many people spending their energies working out how to flout rules for their own selfish ends.

Either the exceptions to lockdown are not limited enough and they need to clamp down on the definition of "essential workers" or there is too much non-compliance in the community. They need to identify the problem and do something to address it quickly because this lockdown is currently just drifting with no end in sight while the numbers remain that high.
They are not assisted by the fact that it is, with the benefit of hindsight, increasingly apparent that the first few weeks of "lockdown-lite" were a wholly inadequate response to this outbreak. People are now a month in with no certainty of when it will end and may become increasingly resentful of the initial response and the hubristic attitude that accompanied it.

I remember telling all my Brisbane friends that if this virus hit the South West of Sydney they'd be stuffed.
You've got whole communities of people who've spent their lives circumventing rules and authority.
Before I get called a snob, I grew up in Bankstown. I'm speaking from experience.

It's seems the harsher lockdown rules implemented last weekend have had the opposite effect in what they were supposed to do.. Nearly day 5. you would expect some signs of slowing down...when in fact the number of positive cases still circulating in the community have increased by the day..

Can't see this ending anytime soon... Glady's in a corner just about out for the count..

With all these covid case locations , does anybody know if these shops or whatever the business may be , get closed down for cleaning or what happens? Because some of them are on the list the next day and even afew days later.

We're pretty well screwed mate, this delta strain won't be brought under control IMO unless we take a leaf out of China's book and board up doors and windows to homes preventing people from leaving.

What's with these split figures for people infectious in the community. In addition to the 48 people today, there are another 22 people who were infectious whilst **partially** in the community.
That sounds like a snow job to me. Someone who is partially in the community can infect someone who then goes on to be a super spreader. Lets face it, there were 110 new infections today and **70** of those people were out and about in the community whilst infectious.
The metric that might be helpful is the average number of days that infected people are out in the community. That's a single measure that will either go up or down depending on the success of the contract tracers and the efforts of the community.

People have rights. You can't tell them how to live their lives. Apparently covid doesn't exist because nobody knows anybody that has had it. It's just the politicians trying to take over our lives........................I'm sure there are many other excuses, pick anyone you want.

p.s just to be clear, i hope the sarcasm meters are working.

Phew..you got me for a sec....lol

I guess I can post in here now too.
Lockdown isn't great but the alternative ain't better.
On the bright side there's a full compliment of footy to watch this weekend, stay safe out there!

With the higher number of infectious in community numbers I am starting to wonder now if people are honestly jack of the government. Are they at the point where they are refusing to take a personal economic hit because the state didn't do what was needed when it was necessary in locking down the Eastern Suburbs?

It is easy for me to comment from my position as I can work from home, have everything I need and am in an area with no recorded cases.

It would be much harder for those living week to week being told that they cannot leave for work and have to take leave, or if they are casual, stay home without pay and try to apply for government support. JobKeeper would likely still not be enough for many, while the areas that started this outbreak (who are the demographic who could handle a hard lockdown,) were flogged with a wet lettuce leaf and not locked down properly and facilitated the spread.

I’m still working.. government can get bent !
I’m not dropping 3-3.5k a week just because they can’t get there shit together.

Even got pulled over just after Faulco station yesterday arvo ..
cops can’t do Jack if you give them a reasonable excuse !

Thing is that that you don't need to go to work to survive and can likely get by with the current payments (which I have long stated is inadequate) and as a tradie have been one of the lucky ones that have until now been basically unaffected.

Every single person that does similarly potentially makes the collective a much bigger risk and played a part in what got us to this point and is making the lockdown last longer.

Sure, I strongly blame the government for also having us here, but community needs to be the driver for us all to get out of this and every action of greed also keeps those doing the right thing in lockdown longer.

NSW edition of 'You have to worry when':

- The premier stops saying how people are out in the community while infectious. She said 48 today but the real number of people (whole + partially) was actually 70-87 according to NSW Health
- Cases with unknown sources jumps from 104 last week to 223 this week
- 'Outbreaks' in new areas are called 'spillover'
- It's taking a week to get venues of concern listed
- CHO is replaced by her deputy with no explanation after saying that NSW is at testing capacity
- The virus goes bush

A good number of short sharp lockdowns in other states have proven effective and it was only wanting to continue with a false narrative from Kirribilli and Macquarie Street that lucked in twice previously that got us here. So no hindsight excuses here for mine.

Rather, this was a decision that didn't give proper consideration to the health advice it was given and I am glad that Dr Chant wasn’t today subjected to again being taken advantage of in the press conferences. I want to scream everytime that I hear her deferred to when followed by the seemingly obligatory "Can I just say" in avoiding the question, whilst Kerry is uncomfortable in the background.

We're in a metric crap tonne of trouble this time I think. It will also get worse as people will flout rules when they are living week to week.
