Yeah I don't think so, I can't speak for the flatlands, but up here there's basically no one but transport on the road after about 7-8pm.

I have to get tested every 3 days now since new protocols were introduced, got tested Tues arvo and still waiting for results and can't work until I get a neg result
Lab immediately mssged me advising 24/48 hours results back when I gave my details... Will be 48 hours about 4pm today

I got tested on Tuesday as well and had my results on Tuesday night.

I don't see how this roster can be viable though considering factors out of their control = test result time frames

Especially at the moment, 110 thousand tests conducted yesterday. That's a ridiculous volume.

Gladbags is a flawed and dangerous person and leader. Stubborn to political ideology, arrogant to deflect any criticism and close minded to any policy settings that have "worked" elsewhere. There is clear evidence that a more stirct and stringent lockdown, implemented after just a couple of delta cases surfaced, would have had this under control by now. Evidence?? Try Victoria and SA. Australia’s approach has been to build a wall and keep the virus out. That approach fails once that wall is breached, and the Delta variant is breaching that wall. Time for a different strategy. My suggestion would be to get everyone vaccinated in the shortest possible time.

The problem with the walls that we rely upon are overwhelmingly dividing rooms and corridors in hotels, from which the virus has emerged on occasions since we have been in the current lockdown and almost certainly will escape again whilst we remain in it.

A collosal failure by our federal government, especially when proper facilities could have easily been operating at the start of this year and then there is vaccine procurement and rollout. At least a couple of former coalition leaders and other senior figures have described the national response as being the greatest public policy failure in their considerable lifetimes.

My guess is, given where the numbers are now, the earliest we'll get out is the end of September and even that is doubtful. Define safe, no-one can because there is no such thing as truly safe. If we have 50% of the population fully vaccinated, results will be better than they are today. It's unrealistic to think people won't get sick and that, sadly, some will die. It's a risk-reward question.

A lot of experts say that even with an 80% vaccination rate, you need to have restrictions in place for years to minimise spread.

Without it, the unvaccinated 20% could easily overwhelm hospitals.
