Can someone explain to me why 12 suburbs in the Penrith LGA are subject to tightened restrictions, but not the entire LGA?

How is Stuart Ayres doing?

I fall into the tighter restrictions by 50mtrs lol. I don't mind apart from the exercising with a mask takes away the only thing that has been keeping me sane over the last few weeks.

The mask outside while going for a walk kills me but I do it. People aren't though. To be honest the virus isn't spreading a lot via people walking outside. I also see some people walking with double masks.

I've been doing a 10-20km bike ride each day and it has been crucial to my mental health. I can't do that with a mask, I'm not against the restrictions, I'm just venting from a purely individual and selfish level.

I think the strict mask rules are simply to ingrain the importance of wearing a mask and make putting on a mask muscle memory.
The mask rules in footy up here weren't to protect the players in any way but simply to set the visual reminder that we're all in it together, even the NRL players.
I wear a mask bushwalking. I know it's silly, but following the rules in general keeps people alive.

Another 262 infections in NSW with 50 out and about doing their own thing. One woman in her 80's passed away...Moderna vaccine to be approved in the next 2 weeks and then that will hopefully start to filter through in September giving another option for people.

Dr Chant stated it's for compliance reasons. It's not the scientific approach. I think it is to get it through people's head that we are in a pandemic.

I am going to abuse every bike rider I see without a mask from now on.

Riding with a mask is fine, running is really hard. I'm looking forward to improved performance when I can get back to running without it, it will be like changing a dirty air filter on a car.

i only go running around my neighbourhood... when i do i do have a mask on me but just not over my face...

ive tried running with it on but it just aggravates my asthma really bad whilst running...
in saying that i rarely come into contact with anyone while running

You do not have to wear a mask when doing "strenuous" exercise. Yet another mixed message and cop out in the rules

There were probably risk averse because I cannot believe any medical doctor would not recommend getting vaccinated.

You may not wish to believe it, but anecdotally, this **has** been occurring. Particularly with older patients and older doctors. "Let's just wait and see" or "you should wait for Pfizer" type recommendations which are probably at least partially responsible for the low rate (still <50%) of full vaccination status people over 70 in NSW.

Much like the rest of society, not every GP is on exactly the same page.

I will take those people at their word that the family member they sadly lost had underlying conditions that created a risk scenario that made vaccination unpalatable/unsuitable (or even dangerous). I appreciate them making an effort to get the story out during an awful time.

The virus won’t kill you but judgement might, it eats away at a man’s soul
Living a non-judgemental life will serve you better in the long run
.... and no I don’t have a peer reviewed paper to back that up
Enjoy today’s game fellow Tiger fans, at least we have that in common 😊

yes it is weird ay

i went on a walk down a local trail yesterday to a popular waterhole.... i was only 1 of a few people who were wearing a mask the entire time...... idk if u could count the walk as being strenuous but...still

I've tried, I can't ride with one on.

If this is occurring the doctors are giving poor advice. I'd like to see that come out. I just want facts. Put it this way the health advice has been pretty darn clear. If a doctor has provided poor advice that is not a vaccine availability issue.

My dad is in the same position. He took the AZ vaccine pretty quickly.

There has been heaps of AZ vaccines available. The guy was in hospital. Something went wrong here and it wasn't vaccine availability.

I''ll add to this I've been watching the NSW press conferences regularly. Dr Chant called out people over 70 not being vaccinated. She clearly stated that this was a massive concern. They all stated they had the AZ vaccine. They were screaming out to get vaccinated.

If they were waiting for the Pfizer vaccine that was a terrible risk based decision at that point in time. It that was the medical advice that doctor should have his or her balls raked over hot coals.

And:-

>“I think nobody really understood how really problematic information that’s been circulating on social media – unchecked and unchallenged – has been for confidence in vaccines generally, and in AstraZeneca in particular,” Dr Halton told The Sun-Herald and The Sunday Age.

Problematic information circulating on Social Media? What about information DIRECT from the Government? AZ is for everyone!!! Oops people are dying. AZ is safe for over 50's!!!...ooops...AZ is for over 60's!!!!....ummmm......AZ is for EVERYONE AGAIN!!!!!

You dont need to go to social media for problematic information. Different protocols for AZ between Vic & NSW.

If it doesn’t re-opening at 70% could be catastrophic.

Who knows. I think 70% of people fully vaccinated might mean herd immunity. People will die but hopefully it won't be that bad.

I think we will get to 50% fully vaccinated and restrictions will be eased.

I even think it will be less than that. They are stating tradies in the affected LGA's will be able to go to work if fully vaccinated.

I don't know if we will ever get to 80% fully vaccinated.

Mate, when I said exactly the same thing in the other COVID thread, you jumped all over me going on about the health system being totally overwhelmed....now you think less that 50%?

On what basis are you plucking these numbers and from where?

Queensland proves once again that following the rules works.

I'm happy that Qld appear to be out of this situation atm.

I have no confidence in containing the Delta variant longer term.

I look at the experience with Delta in the Eastern Suburbs and the outbreak appears contained. Although it was a different variant, the large outbreak in the Northern Beaches was also contained. I do have my private thoughts on the reasons why.

Those private thoughts would translate very well to why lockdowns work in Brisbane.
We all have those thoughts we're just not allowed to voice them anymore

I am against targeting for many obvious reasons, though once things similar to those of demographics and particularly density that @Earl brought up are taken into consideration, it is important to call a spade just that.

Still, it is almost certainly not ethnicity or religious beliefs that are the major drivers. On the way home following a covid test on Friday afternoon I was dismayed to see two vehicles involved in drop off some of their ride shares as I turned off the Pacific Highway at Doyalson.

I can assure they were not part of the groups you were alluding to and whilst nowhere near as normally prevalent, there remained too many cars parked there every day that I have passed recently.

@tiger5150 - re-read my post. I said I don't know. Yet again you don't respond to what I've stated.

Mate, I literally quoted your post.

Let me do it again.

Earl: *"Did they go and get medical advice ?"*

Also Earl : '*There were probably risk averse"*

Also Earl: *"You have to ask the question why didn’t that guy take the AZ vaccine ?"*

Your arrogance and level of white knighting on this thread is breathtaking. You constantly proclaim how you are always right and others are morons for not agreeing with you. Even some poor guy who's father just died of COVID and couldnt be vaccinated because of serious health complications should have listened to your advice, he might be alive today. STAGGERING ARROGANCE. As someone else eloquently put it in a recent post.....you need to get off your high horse.

>I'm not bothering with your trollop anymore.

Tell the Smith Family, they care.

I couldnt care less.

I'm going to state one thing. You have been consistently wrong in all your scientific predictions. I've been consistently right.

I've been consistently wrong in all my scientific predictions? Remind me again of my scientific predictions? What did I predict?

You have been consistently right? Im not sure of that. The only things I remember you predicting were a 5% death rate in Australia and our health system overwhelmed at 70% vax rates. WE will see I guess.

If we get to 5% mortality and overwhelmed ICU's, I just hope Scott Morrison is humble enough to take your valuable advice and shut the unvaxxed out of the health care system.

WE are not worthy of your presence.

I don't trust your opinions. You've proven that you do not understand science which to me is reality.

The professors at Sydney Uni (Bsc) and Uni Melb (Grad Cert) have a different view than you thankfully.

My dad has serious health complications. He was completely vaccinated.

Oh well then QED.
