She keeps going on about the 70+ low vaccination rate which is what kills me as well. It’s crazy. It’s honestly bonkers.

Then why not open up the half million plus nearly out of date recently arrived Pfizer vaccines up to them? Other states have done so without such additional volume.

Not allowing what would surely be many thousands of the more vulnerable to be fully protected within the next five to six weeks seems completely bonkers to me.

I don't know what you are talking about but I'll guess. I assume you are stating Pfizer should go to the over 70's. The health policy doesn't state this and I think the health policy has proven to be correct in most other instances.

I think the vaccines should be targeted on a risk based profile. I firmly believe my 19 yo daughter should get the Pfizer vaccine and my 70+ yo parents should get the AZ vaccine. This is due to the fact that the blood clot issue although extremely rare is more likely to affect younger people.

I guarantee you my parents agree with me. They have taken the AZ vaccine. It is a fantastic vaccine that has worked well. The advice for people I think it was under 50 to take the Pfizer vaccine was actually good advice.

The people who haven't taken the AZ vaccine and are over 70 have not complied with the health advise. Some of these people have died. I also saw one in his 90's was fully vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine and he died.

I really don't care which vaccine people get but we are in a pandemic and we should use our vaccines wisely.

I think this is a political debate rather than a medical advice issue. I don't think that is the correct thing for any government to get into. The government should follow the health advice.

Lastly I don't think any vaccines aren't being utilized. I think people are starting to realize that the health advice is correct and we just need to get people vaccinated. The brand shouldn't be an issue.

Delivery driver at one of our jobsites tested positive.

Site shut today, all workers have to return negative tests.

The supermarket did not close down for a clean...

I dont think its an availability issue for the +70's, they are prioritised for AZ.

It's primarily, though not just the choice issue, as the difference of a month or more before reaching what is also reasonably better efficacy also come into play.

Then there is your case. Still waiting and all these people jumping in on a disjointed queue whilst you're waiting for an age.

My understanding is that there is no efficacy issue. This is as per following the health advice. If anyone knows better than the health advice I believe the best option is to discuss this with your GP.

The health system is administering so many vaccines. I think they are doing a fantastic job. I also think we are doing really well because we are getting vaccinated.

I just hope it continues.

And if the best chance of getting more of them vaccinated is by dropping barriers to that, why on earth would you not?

What barriers do you believe are in place preventing over 70s from being vaccinated?

They were almost 'front of the queue' - eligible from March.

Some good advertising/promotion from around the Gold Coast.

Former NRL superstar, Tyrone Roberts.

The Wests Tigers are in discussions with the NRL about promoting vaccination as well.

The Bunnings one is interesting, I can see why it is important for it to be open.

I believe it should be Trade only.

If I have a tap go or something like that, I need to be able to purchase another.

I'll just add that I haven't been to Bunnings during this lockdown lol.

Call a plumber ..
All non trades should be banned from Bunnings period .

I don't like to pay for plumbers, just like I don't pay for painters.

House is looking sharp mate !

I don't like paying for anything. My house looks really sharp.

Probably a new build ..
Painters .. most trusted profession !

It's not new and it doesn't look sharp. Myself and my wife paint ourselves as well.

Oh well .. can’t win em all

Body paint?

Yeah I do it all ..
special rates for fattys .. charge double ?

Well it does use more paint lol

They cannot get the Pfizer shot here in NSW, yet they can in your state.

Good on Western Australia for continuing with a goal of zero covid.

They are showing up other governments who have failed, and who are trying to mask their failure by stating "you can't have zero with delta". Well Western Australia, and New Zealand, shows you can.

They'll fail as well. It's just a matter of time.

You are right the rest of the world is now living with it in there communities… it’s fools gold to believe it’s not coming .. my advice get prepared as it is COMING to you all soon ! Get vaccinated..

People think their politics or their will power or something is going to win the battle against a virus. It ain't happening people.

If Gladys had done a hard lock down of the Eastern Suburbs this would be over by now. 'We have to accept it' is an excuse for failure, failures that New Zealand and most other Australian states aren't making.

I'm not doubting a lockdown should have been implemented quicker. That is obvious now.

I guarantee you are wrong through long term though.

But as vaccination rates rise it should get easier to defend zero cases, rather than harder. If somewhere like NZ or WA has effectively kept it to zero without widespread vaccination, I don't see why they will struggle with widespread vaccination.

I agree it is probably too hard to get NSW back to zero, as it has been allowed to become an absolute debacle here, but better managed jurisdictions should be able to defend zero if they have tough borders.

Strict borders can't stay in place forever.

Definitely not. You cannot put younger people at risk due to misinformation. We have to follow the health advice.

They 'can' but generally received Astra Zeneca as per ATAGI advice.

Strict borders can't stay in place forever.

This is the point.

The Doherty report is based on two things:-

1. Minimizing lockdowns because they cost too much
2. Minimizing the impact to the our health.

There isn't a policy option where borders stay closed forever.

I agree with the point about getting vaccination rates up but people seem to take their time until you have an outbreak. I bet our vaccination rates would still be low if we hadn't had this outbreak.
