**I reckon it's pretty rough to blame her for the virus and call it a spectacular fail**.

Off topic but you'd love my son. He watches that Jordy or whatever his name is and hates Gladys.

I don't think anyone can blame Gladys for the virus.

She is to blame for the state wide response to the virus though. She had a real life test case in Victoria to draw on but instead talked about gold standard contact tracing and keeping citizens of NSW safe. Remember that? The soft lockdown approach has now cost lives and 600 cases a day. She is incompetent and going on todays media questioning, if she has gone against her medical advisors recommendations for stronger lockdowns, add negligent.

Well said.

To misquote the Irish:
God created the virus (ok some say the Chinese). Gladys created the crisis.

I don't really care about this but I can't see how she can really be blamed. Happy to be convinced otherwise.

Here is the thing restrictions were implemented to my knowledge on 23rd June. I think there were 16 cases at this point.

On the 26th June harder more restrictions were introduced. There were 11 cases and 17 the following day.

Dr Chant is not going against Gladys or at least to my knowledge. She recognizes the situation isn't black or white. I suppose that is all I'm stating.

**I accept this is a disaster and we should have locked down earlier. I don't think anyone can argue against this. I'm just not as harsh a judge on this in relation to blaming the government**.

I just think people and that means you and me and all of us sometimes don't do the right thing and then we end up where we are now.

I should add I'm not political and I typically vote Labour.

So who is to blame for the disaster? Either the Premier ignored the medical advice or the Medical advisors dropped the ball knowing full well what not doing a hard lockdown from the start can lead to?

It is black and white. We are a 16 months in and knew the delta was a more aggressive variant. Victoria has shown that hard lockdown slows the rate but in NSW I could still go out and buy a BBQ.

Scomo is to blame for the disaster. Utter quarantine failure by the Feds. She’ll be right, the States can just use unfit for purpose hotel quarantine. It was eventually going to fail and it has. Then you have the vaccine rollout, again it was the Feds responsibility to acquire the appropriate vaccines at the right time. Then you have the Delta strain, without appropriate quarantine still. Sure Gladys has failed in this latest outbreak but the root cause is with the failure of Scomo from marketing.

+1.

'Gold Standard'.

This sums it up pretty well.

The restrictions early on were vague and mostly voluntary.

Masks 'recommended', don't cancel your events if you have one planned, figure out if you're an essential worker.

It got out of hand very quickly.

Thanks for the video. I'm going to watch it.

I've watched one minute and I completely agree with the Hubris comment. I am 100% positive they didn't realize what the Delta variant was like.

I still think people don't follow the advice and it's still happening now.

17th June - 3 cases. It's 18th August now.

Gladys stuffed this one up, as much as some want to blame Morrsion he is not the one who could have locked down sooner.
Gladys is just lucky that NSW Labor are just pathetic and not even an opposition it might just save them at next election

He failed as soon as he decided that the states should be in charge of a federal responsibility. He has done nothing since the pandemic started except stall and the one area he tried to get brownie points for (vaccine for his citizens) he completely ballsed up and has not even got close to any of his stated objectives.
He has been a total failure.

we had plenty of AZ but poorly taken at the start
if Dr Young had not have bashed AZ things might have been a bit different
The Labor supporters are desperate to death ride Morrison but can't blame him for the states controlling lockdown.
We will see come election time I guess

Everyone blaming the pollies but what about the misinformation that was propagated all over the place. What about the people who simply don't care.

That video is funny though because Gladys was so confident in her system. She got it wrong. Scomo did get it wrong as well.

A couple of points though:-

1. They were right until the Delta variant came here.
2. They've changed their tune now.

I'm 100% against this. I just want people to follow the medical advice and take this thing seriously.

I'm not political but this is what I think. Too many people have their views colored by politics.

I'm 100% against this. I just want people to follow the medical advice and take this thing seriously.

It's very evident eh?

Not sure on the virus issue alone

Complete nonsense.I criticise both sides of politics when they stuff up but for some reason people on the far right wing of politics dont see any problem with right wing parties.
As for Morrisson finding a cure for cancer and covid the only thing he seems capable of is brushing rape claims under the ministerial carpet.

Labor have stuffed up many times,Khemlani being one of the most notable if not recent. The appointment of Latham to the leadership of federal labor another stuff up.I certainly do not vote for the labor party all the time but i would be amazed if you voted anything but right wing

I've voted Labour my whole life. I'm 48. I just don't believe that this situation is a complete balls up by the NSW govt. I mean it is a complete balls up but I don't think they've done that much wrong.

I think people have done the wrong thing by spreading disinformation and not following the health guidelines.

Just in case some didn't know, for those under 40 who live in the "hotspot" LGAs in Sydney and have been advised against AZ or just waiting for Pfizer - take advantage of the new priority allocation that opened up today while you can.

This sums it up pretty well.

The restrictions early on were vague and mostly voluntary.

Masks 'recommended', don't cancel your events if you have one planned, figure out if you're an essential worker.

It got out of hand very quickly.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxA7ELY9O7M

Like everyone else there are a lot of things I wish were different in the past.

If I had one ticket to a time machine I'd be sending it to Gladys and asking her to go back to June and get this right. After all the sacrifices we made for a year or more, to be in this position now is tough.

I guess we have to hang in there but it feels a lot more difficult today with a new peak after weeks of lockdown. Still a lot of things going on that are surely not essential for the next week or two but we still don't make the tough calls.

And to @TrueTiger and anyone else on the fence or against vaccines. Please get medical advice. Some countries with 70%+ Vaccinations are struggling badly with Delta and looking at entering lockdown again. Vaccinated and unvaccinated alike are falling ill, but the vast majority of severe cases and death are in the unvaccinated.

Malta has 90%+ double dosed and are looking to tighten travel and other restrictions again. This is life now, we have to adapt as sad and infuriating as that is.
