Interestingly with the data that has been provided there has been some analysis of Pfizer versus AZ.

The big picture remains the same in that the efectiveness of both vaccines is very very similar.

I'll add a slight bit of information to this picture but it's not worth focusing on in relation to getting vaccinated. The Pfizer vaccine appears to have a better initial rate of effectiveness but this decreases over time whereas the AZ vaccine appears to have a lower initial rate of effectiveness but this increases over time. There could be more to this picture because this could be due to the time period between your first and second dose.

Interestingly Dr Chant mentioned the initial dosing time frame in the press conference yesterday. She wants everyone double dosed even though there is a possibility this leads to a decrease in effectiveness over time. She stated that this will be mitigated against via booster shots.

Read the same Pfizer is running out of puff against Delta while AZ is staying stronger and lasting longer against Delta ..

825 cases and climbing.

Makes for bleak reading. I reckon we'll crack 1000 next week.

Could crack that tomorrow, this is out of control.

Definitely.

These numbers are not good at all.

just a thought.
Wouldnt it be better if they introduced rapid testing?
That way if someone has the virus they can be sent
somewhere else (a facility to recover) rather than be
sent home where other family members can get infected.

@Mighty_Tiger I get what you are stating but these lockdowns are just causing too many issues. It's an untenable way forward.

I know everyone focuses on Gladys but to me this is nonsense. She is listening to a team of advisers and they make decisions together. Look at Ink's post above. It's a public health order via Dr Chant. Health are the ones implementing these measures.

If anything I think it's pretty clear that Dr Chant representing Health are the ones pushing the whole situation now. I work for a big company and manage projects. My mate is a General Manger who manages a massive IT portfolio. The interesting point is that in these roles you are in a lot of ways just a facilitator. I view Gladys this way now. You don't make decisions. You leave that to the experts.

On top of that we've paid the Doherty institute to provide policy guidelines on how to manage this situation. This isn't Gladys coming up with her own ideas on what to do.

The Doherty report doesn't consider specific rural situations. To be fair the NSW government are pushing vaccinations into Indigenous communities.

She is head of and the buck stops with her.

She isn’t a GM, she is at a CEO level.

I’m a GM and have been for an extensive period in a national Government organization. Zero aspiration to move up as the decision rights are far more intensive & they do make more decisions to hand down to the doers/implementors the higher you go. I get fully what your saying but my CEO of a government organization hands down make calls on plenty of things and makes the organization jump and fast when he wants something actioned (which has occurred a hell of alot during COVID in ways most people have zero idea about). The choices aren’t easy and its all about getting proposals & information to then guide those on what is needed which drives the how. Gladys has alot more say in things than you think.

Its also interesting as the other states get feedback from the same places and all handle the situation vastly different to how Gladys has - this indicates that she has asked for different activities to be performed and is guiding the narrative. Thats how government functions work.

It seems that such an approach was utilised in Victoria for the Shepparton outbreak, with basically instant PCR testing analysis carried out.

It’s a healthy debate & is what it is but don’t think for a second Gladys hasn’t been guiding the narrative.

Look at the history

- took weeks to react
- slow lockdown approach to keep the state open
- laughed at how Melbourne handled things and said we will be doing it differently
- lockdowns have over time become stricter as reality of things has set in
- she consistently talks about opening up

Her narrative has always been to not be locked down and to be open & free.

Glady's needs to stop diverting the blame and admit she made a big mistake in not going into lockdown sooner.

She's far too arrogant to do that.

Yeah lockdowns don't work, just look at Queensland.........hang on a minute.

80% of cases came from areas of concern. Most of the attendees at those illegal gatherings in Sutherland and Northern Sydney came from those areas of concern.

Show's a complete disregard by some people. Either that or they only care about themselves and not other people.

Absolutely. People don't care about others. I am disgusted.
