So here is a doozy.

My wife is a nurse in a medical centre. She was told that a patient she was in close contact with has tested positive and therefore she needs to self isolate for 14 days. 1st test came back negative yesterday.

The patient has a couple of members of the family that are positive. It is believed that they caught it at a funeral that does not appear to have adhered to guidelines.

Now here is the kicker. My wifes work has contacted her saying it may all be for nothing. The patient she dealt with may not be positive. Rather her sister has tested positive, but used the patients details (name, DOB & medicare number) when having a test. The patient will not provide confirmation of when they were tested & the result.

Good news my wife is at less risk.

Bad news she still has to isolate for 14 days and will lose pay.

They need to increase the penalties for those deliberately breaking serious health orders (including not isolating following a positive test) and those that lie about their status.

Couldn't agree more. The behaviour of some of our fellow citizens has been nothing short of appalling and demonstrates total disregard for the rest of us. I'd be using jail as a punishment more than it is being used at present.

1553 cases today and 4 more deaths, people still think it's just a flu. Of the deaths 3 were partly vaccinated and the rest hadn't been.

There was a time not very long ago when figures like todays would have reached 5-6 pages of indignation on here very quickly.Unfortunately now its just a mental shrug for many people and life goes on.Society is being conditioned to accept failure from our leaders and that can not be a good thing.
Our NSW hospital system is under a massive strain and will potentialy fail within a month as it has done in so many other countries.

I health system is going to be smashed, I'm hopeful that it will be able to cope. Our wonderful health care workers are going to feel the brunt so I really feel for them.

If you know a health care worker, or any frontline worker, do something to show them how much they are appreciated. My wife who is a healthcare worker had a package arrive yesterday from Lush that was order by a friend just to show she is appreciated. Made a huge difference to what she is going through.

I am full of both respect and admiration by the way health care workers within Australia and all over the world have responded to the personnel dangers and challenges that they all have faced and continuing to face. The dedication that they have shown in the last 21 months puts just about every other profession to shame. Many sadly have died from the scourge that they are trying to control and eradicate. The entire world owes the medical profession a massive debt.

I just found out my 17yo daughter has just got her first jab.

Typical of my ex wife (horrible human...long story) to make a decision like this without consulting me, but the truth is I feel more relieved that my three kids are vaccinated.

My first shot next friday

Just to put your mind at ease I believe the age of consent for these things is 14 so your daughter probably made a personal decision

NSW records 1,533 new COVID-19 cases, four deaths as total infections in Wilcannia near 100

I couldn't paste that link properly it's from the ABC so it's freely available, anyway not looking to stir things up or anything and have no agenda or use social media and only use YouTube for old Maggie's games really lol but yes 4 unvaccinated deaths and 130 odd unvaccinated in ICU.

But also sadly 7 fully vaccinated in ICU so no I wasn't dribbling as some were to say. When I mentioned nearly everyday it was because the last 2 weeks I've probably read 200 plus articles and was picking up snippets from different sources.

But what concerned me most last night was that key information is dribbling out from the government and not making mainstream news. The following link I found but yet could not find it in mainstream media and is extremely concerning.

Another 2 AZ deaths in their 50s sadly. No wonder the the government siphoned news like that from the media because since they don't have adequate vaccine choices they're pushing for under 60s to get vaccinated with AZ unlike any other developed nations except for the UK who invented it so not real good for their re election chances.

I think you should check out the number of deaths in this outbreak compared to the number of deaths in the Victorian outbreak last year and ask yourself why there would be such a big difference.

The difference is delta, and the improvement with the death rate is because of vaccination

But I ask you what on earth has that got to do with my post

Mate you have no insight into my daughters personal decisions. Probably best you don’t presume to know.

What is relevant to this thread is that although I had no impart into the decision, I am happy and relieved that she is getting vaccinated. Obviously if I was part of the decision the result would have been the same.

They probably have an agenda.

The AZ deaths have been reported in multiple forms of mainstream media, including ABC news. If you think the government control the mainstream media I think you may have your roles somewhat reversed there.

Given the number of vaccinations over the past 6 or so weeks it was unfortunately virtually inevitable that there would be fatalities. If you take a million to one shot several million times then you are tempting fate.

You seem to have an agenda yourself. I don't really understand what it is. No, vaccines are not 100% effective at preventing illness and/or death. It would be unrealistic to think they would be. You are not coming up with anything revelatory here.
