Wow this thread has dropped out of everyones consciousness, which I take as a reflection of the importance people are now putting on it. Should be an endorsement of the path forward I guess.

Two weeks after re-opening and numbers dropped under 300. Great sign.

Im enjoying my freedom and being back st the gym ?

Gun ranges are open again and I haven't felt this happy in years to smell burnt gunpowder:grin:

Did you need more pics of Geo , Hobbo and Demps

That could be taken any number of ways Happy...but getting back on point, it's good to see case numbers in NSW still hovering under 300 per day while the vaccination rate continues to climb.

I should be getting my Pfizer booster before Christmas hopefully.

Should we really be getting boosters before other countries have had the opportunity to secure the safety of their own people?

Not for me to say. The US are throwing away millions of Pfizer doses because their citizens refuse to get vaccinated - now that seems like a monumental waste to me. Some countries have no interest in being vaccinated, we do thankfully.

When I’m up for a booster I’ll consider it there’s just a part of me that worries we are being entitled about it all. I people in other countries who are desperate to get vaccinated and can’t.

That shouldn't stop you from getting your booster - that's government politics at play - we've thrown away millions of Astra Zeneca shots...I'm not saying it's right, but we need to look out for ourselves and our community. How each country does that is up to them.

It's wrong but so many people also won't get vaccinated. I figure the more doses we get the better for us individually and if people don't want to take them.

We should be sending vaccines to poorer countries though.

You can only do what you can do. If the leaders of our richest nations really want to provide vaccines to poorer nations then they will facilitate the manufacture and distribution of a sufficient number of vaccines. That could happen regardless of whether or not we have booster shots.

I applaud your sentiments on this issue, but the only thing that you are really likely to achieve by forgoing a booster is to expose yourself and those around you to potential infection. The booster shot that you forgo will not find its way to a disadvantaged nation.

I think I heard on the news this morning that we had given a whole bunch of our AZ to FIJI and that is why they have a high vaccination rate.

Apparently thousans of AZ vaccines had to be sent back to UK because they weren't being used here. All due to a massive media misinformation campaign IMO.[[[

We make the AZ here. They are stopping manufacture in Dec. It’s simply not as good. Lower efficacy, higher rates of adverse reactions. Why would you.

It'll save your life ? It's a good vaccine. It is less effective than the Pfzier vaccine but you are still safe. The difference between not being vaccinated and having the AZ vaccine is huge.

I do agree with just dropping the vaccine now. If more people had taken the AZ though we'd have less deaths and less hospitalisations.

There has been a massive cost in relation to the misinformation that has been propagated by people like the QLD chief health officer and others.

This guy provides the best information. Sources and facts.

I think he is technically correct but we don't have data to prove that this is a big issue. We also have data showing how many adverse reactions there are and there aren't many.

It's wrong but so many people also won't get vaccinated. I figure the more doses we get the better for us individually and if people don't want to take them.

We should be sending vaccines to poorer countries though.

***It is less effective than the Pfzier*** vaccine but you are still safe.

Good to see you Earl, glad you dont have me on ignore and glad you are not still beating the "no such thing as efficacy/they are the same horse". Happy to discuss things rationally.

I agree with you that the AZ is worth taking and better than nothing. 4 months ago when it was getting desperate here, and vaccine supply was critical, and there wasnt time for everyone to get Pfizer straight away, AZ had an important role. Two of my kids (kids pfft 21yo and 25yo) have AZ in them.

Now that we have a large % vaccinated and there is plenty of Pfizer available, Moderna is also available here, if you were getting vaccinated now, why would you even think about the AZ? Pfizer and Moderna and significantly more effective with less adverse reactions (the adverse reactions for AZ are still low).

I think it makes sense for the Govt to stop making AZ. The demand will be low.

Just a note that you have posted so much misinformation on this thread it isn't funny. To make out that you are prepared to discuss things rationally is hilarious.

Please do not state what I state. Quote me directly or don't bother.

I'm putting you on ignore if there is any further twisting of the truth from you.

Agreed. The QLD chief health officer played a big role in this misinformation as well.

They (fed govt) had already decided to discontinue AZ production well before her comments.

The media get about 99% of the blame IMHO.

I agree with this. I would now just state to get the Pfizer. It is a slightly better vaccine in relation to stopping infections.

In relation to adverse side effects just for some clarity there are potential adverse side effects from both vaccines. The main problem with AZ is the blood clotting issue. The main problem with the Pfizer is heart inflammation issue. My last understanding of the issue was that they were both pretty close to equally likely to occur. The blood clotting is worse than the heart inflammation issue though.
