With NSW Health advising Newcastle residents to seriously consider postponing Christmas gatherings, this is a pretty serious situation. Are they to be postponed until everyone has a booster? Compounding the situation is the easing of restrictions in NSW. The message is not clear!

I've been the no 1 supporter of the governments in Australia so far. They've botched this wave big time. I'm calling it incompetent.

Our only hope is that this variant is milder and/or vaccines hold up really well. If not we are in a big pile of horse poo.

I hope you are right. I'm telling my wife that this is what it now appears to be like and we just need to relax. The data is backing this assessment up right now but there has to be a massive risk and it's a risk in relation to people's lives.

BUT EARL it appears it is no greater threat than the seasonal flu we get and have got for hundreds of years,its a play by big pharma to make huge dollars...
look at it this way..since this scamdemic has appeared.
big pharma has made billions of dollars,GATES,FAUCCI ETC who are the main stakeholders have also pumped millions in to media,have shares in the hand sanitisers,have shares in the PCR testing equiptment and Gates is the MAJOR DONOR to the WHO....join the dots mate...

So all the talk about the majority in hospitals being Unvaxxed is a myth?

Absolutely ....the vaxxed are in the hospitals with adverse reactions....dont forget what came out of the Newcastle nightclub....all fully vaxxed staff and patrons..
Also the cruise ship 3200 people all staff and customers fully vaxxed,18/20 covid cases...NO UNVAXXED PEOPLE WERE ALLOWED IN......

You must know someone from inside the front linewith all this undisputed information you are getting.

I get hammered on here all the time because I research what I find from official websites...its not hard if you can be on a footy forum,you can research heaps online mate..

Research online or talk to someone on the front line. I have access to both. But nar the front line personnel have to be corrupt right?

TT you say that you do your research and that is good but you need to check the credibility of websites that you do your research on.American frontline doctors are an extreme right wing political group that have little credibility just agendas and covid misinformation is one of them .They are nothing like our doctors groups in Australia or other civilised countries and they do not speak for the vast majority of the USA medical profession.

the main thing we should all care about is people,men ,women,boys and girls of all race,colour and creed...
the one big thing that has come out of this situation we are in atm is the hardship endured on many,many good people who just want to earn a living,feed their families,pay bills and enjoy life to the fullest..
People as human beings are mostly caring,kind and Godly people,there is the element of some humans that only want for themselves,this minority are the ones who dont care as we do,these are the ones that should be overcome by the good salt of the earth people that are in the majority...
That brings me to the point of the discussions we have within this thread,Earl has his opinion,you have yours and others have theirs...God only knows what type of world we would have if we were all exactly the same..
I will keep doing my research to find answers to MY questions.I have the freedom to do that as others do...
At the end of this horrible phase we are going through and only then will we all know how it ends up,who is right and who is wrong doesnt matter until we get out of this with as many lives safe and uninjured so life can go on as it was meant to,loving,peaceful,caring people raising families and enjoying friends company ..
CARING FOR OTHERS IS A GREATER GIFT THAN SELF PRESERVATION IN DIRE TIMES....

Also, as only double vaccinated clients were allowed into the nightclub in Newcastle where the even occurred, **being vaccinated has not stopped infection or transmission it seems.**

It's not supposed to - it's supposed to lessen your chances of getting it while also cutting greatly your chance of a serious illness.
Pretty much like the normal flu jab people are happy to get every year.
As much as i'd love to believe all the conspiracy theories I highly doubt every country in the world is happily spending billions of dollars, and risking destroying their economies, without having their own leading doctors checking the whole thing isn't one giant fraud.

I have holidays booked around there at the end of January. Not sure it matters as the whole of the state is likely to be in a mess by that point.

On the positive side I reckon within the next 2-4 weeks we should have a fairly good idea how virulent this virus is.

A lot of these people,scientists,doctors,hospital workers etc have sites on the internet....it cant all be a cesspool...

The ones I know are too busy working to maintain websites.

A lot worked during the height of the pandemic online re consulting and also gave much advice on their WEBSITES...there is quite a bit of info from international doctors who wanted to give advice to the needy...

Also, as only double vaccinated clients were allowed into the nightclub in Newcastle where the even occurred, being vaccinated has not stopped infection or transmission it seems.

Some people seem to think that it is simply "party time", yet one of those that wants to party at the expense of the community decided that a directive to isolate shouldn't hamper their desires.

A very selfish action to then go to possibly the most transmissive environment of a nightclub and expose many hundreds to the virus, who in turn have since exposed many more vulnerable people to it.

Such attitude is disgusting.

So many new daily cases. Amazing. And those dirty unvaxxed are spreading this like wildfire. It must be them. Even though they make up just 10% of society. How is it even possible ?
It surely couldn't be the noble double vaxxed doing the spreading, could it ?
The WT employee last week. He tested positive, but how is that possible ? He wasn't a dirty conspiracy head, he was a double vaxxer !!! All the staff are double vaxxers !!! How on earth could it spread ?
And we were told that herd immunity kicked in at . . . was it 60% ? . . . but here we are at 90% and all of a sudden we have to doubt the information that was forced down our throats ??!!!
I'm waiting for the Nobel prize winning mensa grads to suggest the spread of cases is due to restrictions being eased at 9.00am this morning.

2. How do the unvaccinated do in relation to staying out of hospital/ICU/dying ?

I haven't heard herd immunity mentioned in a long time. The most talked about option I believe is the virus becoming endemic. It's just there and you gotta accept it.

Yes bit they also say the booster will give you same help as the the vaccine did against the old virus.

The vaccines do appear to be working. They aren't working as well but they appear to be keeping us out of hospital.

There are more use cases though. What if the vaccine is just effective because the virus is mild. We need more data to answer these questions.

I was up at our local Liquorland and the young lady behind the counter thanked me for wearing a mask. She was wearing one as well. All other customers were not. Some of our residents have lost all sense of proportion. A simple face mask can protect others.

Yes I don't understand why we made masks not compulsory in doors though. That's the areas where we are most likely to catch Covid. With all the Christmas shopping time it's a real risky thing to do.
