Not exactly. Fifita was released as part of the deal where Cronulla agreed to take Bryce Gibbs. So Fifita was the casualty of our desperation to offload Gibbs.

They had him in the honourable mentions section, along with Ben Hunt, which I think is ridiculous considering Hunt had a lot to do with St George's rise to the top of the ladder for much of the season. One month of recent bad form should not put him in the worst buys list. I noticed Leilani Latu was on the list also - weren't we supposed to be after him at some stage? Chasing another nuffy :brick:

Pretty sure that I saw McQueen quoted as having held discussions with Cleary and getting assurances before signing a week or so after his appointment. The announcement timeline also seemed to match that.

Thompson had got to be one of the best buys, I think mybe will turn out ok too. Reynolds will be ok next season…..as long as we don’t keep the duds it’s ok to bring in fresh blood. We just need a few more jewels. If you are judging ckeary’s coaching ability look at the players he has improved; brooks, Lawrence, Kev, Mck, marsters

For their sake, one would hope so, as he has been very underwhelming at WT.

I think McQueen will come good after another off season and obviously the Cowboys think so too. I certainly don't think he's been dogging it with us, it can take some time to regain confidence after such a serious injury, one that could've ended his career altogether.

I would be happy if he stayed on with us, but I guess it hasn't worked out the way he hoped it would in Sydney with the Tigers and being a Queenslander, I think he will be more at home playing with a Qld club, so I wish him all the best.

Unfortunate circumstances for both McQueen and the Tigers, as I think he would've been good for us fully fit, but we just have to roll with it and hope we can secure a good replacement for him and for all the other forwards who are leaving at the end of the year as well!

I don't think so. I just don't think he is that good of a player to be honest. That, along with a slow start to the season because of his injury, and he was always behind the 8 ball. However, the fact he couldn't break into our top 17 on a regular basis during the second half of the season, leads me to believe he just doesn't have it.

The Cows obviously think differently though.
