Johnson is having a charmed run, shame the bloke is so unlikeable. Did they say yesterday that he has the 10th most Test wickets in Australian history? FMD! Would hate to see how many wickets he would get bowling to someone who could bat properly. Viv, Haynes, Grenidge etc would cart him all over the park. That is the main reason why stats and records are worthless these days, the teams of the modern era wouldn't get within cooee of Windies, Aussies, Pom, NZ, India, Pakistan teams of 30 years ago. It is a joke TBH.

LOL once again, an Australian team has done exceptionaly well and you had to come on here and p1ss all over the effort.
To reiterate what Ink said to you blokes after the WC final…They are not your freinds, they are not your family, you dont personaly know them. They are professional sportsmen, representing your country and achieving great things. How about showing them some admiration for the way they are playing rather than bitching about how you dont "like them"?

The only thing thats a joke is the attitude of some on here, its quite pathetic really.

Anyway, great win again to the Aussies, they are playing out of their skins and demolishing a good opposition in a series most (including me) thought they would lose. 2-0 with Perth, Melbourne and Sydney to go! It will take a superhuman effort for the Poms to retain the Ashes from here. It looks like their spirit is breaking and hopefully in a weeks time they will face the reality of a boxing day test having already surrendered the Ashes....

What's so unlikeable about Johnson? He seems like a good, honest, humble bloke to me.
But yep let's just put an astrix next to all his records because his opponents aren't as good as teams '30 years ago'. Better yet, strip them from the wisdens entirely, they may as well not count.
I've heard some ridiculous opinions before but this takes the cake.

FMD son, is Johnson a relo of yours is he? I don't give a rats arse whether he is a friend of mine, part of my family or I personally know him, I stated an opinion on him. Forums are about opinions, suck it up.

I didn't once demean the Aussie team effort so checking your facts would be a good start.

And remember not to ever have an opinion on anything, people will love you for it  Yippee yo yo yippee yippee

Ok explain why he is unlikeable to you.
…and he may not have bowled against guys from 30 years ago, but he has bowled against a group of batsmen including Tendulka, Lara, Pieterson, Gale, Kallis etc.... who most judges would consider better.

He may not be an all time great bowler, but he has fought his way back into this side after injury and poor form to be our spearhead. Under the mentorship of Lillee he seems to be learning to control his pace and is getting the ball in the right spots consistently. He is an x factor bowler who can very quickly take the game away from an opposition.

But dont let that sway you....you dont "like" him LOL....

Pieterson, Gayle and Kallis are considered better batsmen than Viv, Haynes, Grenidge?
WOW would just about some that up. Honestly.

Probably the way Johnson carries on gets some people offside. The picture of him eyeballing Anderson doing the rounds in the papers today or yesterday explains it pretty well. A bit of humility goes a long way when it comes to peoples perceptions of others on the sporting field, but with you being a Queenslander that point is probably lost on you (ie : yippee yi yippee yi yippee and all that sorta crap that seems all the rage up there).

Well it looks like no current bowler or bowler to come will ever live up to your standard as they didn't bowl to three real quality batsman of 30 years ago despite him bowling to quality batsman of today who some say are up there with the best ever (Tendulkar and Kallis). Nevermind that Alastair Cook will be one of the youngest batsman to 8000 test runs (unless this lean spell his on goes for a fair while yet). Nevermind that Amla is taking all before him while the likes of Jayawardene and Sangakarra are pure class. Every era has top talent and it's up to whoever is bowling to get out whoever is batting. They literally can't do anything more then that.

And Johnson is only getting some back after the torment he copped from the Poms in a couple of the last Ashes series. Everyone knows the Barmy Army songs and his poor performances. Well now he's back leading the country into an unlikely Ashes win and he's loving it. I'm Sydney born and bred and he's played with plenty of humility many times before. One funny stare at Anderson should not have an influence on anything. The bloke deserves the rewards for all the hard work he's done. Man of the Series is between him and Michael Clarke, probably the best player in the world.

I didnt ask what gets other people off side, I asked why **you** dont like him. Your reaction seems in line with the other delicate nancies who unfortunately live here. "its just not in the spirit"….What a load of crap. This is test cricket. The toughest form of the game. Go and whine somewhere else.

Most cricket fans realise that the mind games being played are the result of years of history between both playing groups. There was a documentary on the BBC before this ahses series where Anderson was asked how the team feel about the likely hostile reception they will recieve out here this summer. His reply was they expect it and welcome it. He also stated that he would give worse than he cops as he cant help but sledge the Australians and sees it as an intigral part of Test fixtures. Wearing players down mentally over 5 days and then achieving victory is his benchmark for success.
The Australians are playing by the same rules this series and are winning each battle...hopefully the whole war.

That is why I don't love the bloke, self explanatory really.

As for the "delicate nancies" on here, they aren't your friends, they aren't your family and you don't know them personally. Going by your logic who are you to judge them then?
Apologies that every body can't be as hard a man as you, forums are notorious breeding grounds for Walter Mitty-type lunchtime legends

I didnt say on here. I am talking about those that I have argued with in person who think the Aussies are being bullies even though they dont watch any cricket.

You should get yourself checked out…you seem to have a split personality. Your views on everything fluctuate with public opinion. Maybe you should try and have an original thought eh?

I think the Poms batting has turned the corner to a degree

They will bring Bresnan in for Perth and that will be a big boost for them

I'll put it this way , if we lose Perth it won't surprise me if they did manage to turn it around

i dont mind non family/racial/cultural sledging but not a big fan of send offs tbh.

i mean you've got the batsman out- you've won the battle- dont see the point in showing the direction to the pavilion or death stares after that. to me, you seem cocky but that's just me though.

i hope johnson can maintain his form until at least the WACA. smart play by clarke to let harris and siddle bowl most of the overs today. kept johno fresh and boosted the confidence of the other two.

also FTB, not sure why you dont like johno though? he's much more humble than others such as warner, wade, steyn, kohli etc. if you're comparing from previous years afaik lilee, walsh, holding etc. weren't very "humble" either. in saying that, i do understand where you come from: i have biased hatred towards players such as hindy, ennis etc.

cant wait till the WACA. both sides will be fired up. a real test for the batsman. i expect cook to lead from the front tbh

gotta love cricket

I've enjoyed the send offs this series, my highlight of the second Test was Monty Panesar sending off Michael Clarke after he's averaged 85 for the Test and at that stage Panesar had match figures of 2/160\. Pissed myself laughing.

Who knows what you are referring to….you seem to say people shouldn't judge people they don't know personally yet you are calling people delicate nancies. Hypocrisy really is a bad trait. As for original thought, I don't aspire to be a sheep. Eh!
Just funny how the Aussie cricket team thrive on being the bullies in this series now that they have their nose in front and the wind up their arse. But where was this intimidation when they were getting bent over by the Poms last series. They just rolled over. Nothing wrong with having a bit of mongrel on the field but don't just display it when you are winning, give as good as you get when you are getting beat as well.

Who cares what happens on the field honestly as far as sledging is concerned

Wonder if the players who don't like sledging , aren't real good at sledging

As long as it isn't too personal and can be left on the field game on as far as I'm concerned

really CB? to each their own i guess.

i think kohli got de knock out in one of the ind vs sa one dayers after he had scored a century. those types of send offs piss me off.

Its called having your foot on the throat and keeping it there

It doesnt really work if your getting tonked to and over the boundary regulalrly…..thjats when you need to concentrate, focus and forget the sledge.....or as you put it ''roll over''

Bullies

You should look up the word

Two things have changed that have attributed to Aussie success. Ponting is no longer in the team and Arthur is no longer coach. It makes a difference having a coach the players want to play for ….. I'm not sure our league team have that yet .... Time will tell I guess.

I'm with you F2B .... I don't like some of the crap they go on with either. Wonder if the day will come when someone retaliates in a way that's never been seen before. We saw Miandad threaten Lillee with a bat and blokes shaping up to each other. Wonder if the day will come when someone throws one !

A well balanced team, home country and a bit of confidence helps as well.

Good to be winning again but not the time to get over excited.

This is it.

They look like a team, and play like one.

Not a squad where two or three are rotated in & out on a game by game basis like a primary school cricket team
