Ouch. Labuschagne got one in the nads

He is batting very well and could well be picked in the next game as well.It shouldnt be difficult to drop one of the nonperformers

They’re having a laugh if they pick Wade over him next test

While the Aussies might lose big this test, I personally think it bodes well for them for the last 2 tests. They’ve actually found another batsmen who can support Smith. He’ll probably take Wade’s spot, who is lucky to be playing as a specialist batsmen as it is. I’d say he’ll be the one who makes way, though Khawaja is the new Shaun/Mitch Marsh in my eyes. There’s nothing special about him at all. An above average Test player at best.

So they are in a good position going into the fourth test, though any attack with Archer cannot be counted out. His spell last night getting Warner and Wade turned the tide. Between Lord’s and last night, I haven’t seen bowling like that in an Ashes since Mitchell Johnson. That kid is the real deal. The Poms have to b careful they don’t over bowl him. Anderson could be fit for the next test too, so a lot to still sink your teeth into, even if the Aussies lose big here.

Pitch had some gremlins that hopefully our bowlers capitalise on and yeah England still have to bat but what happened to digging in and putting a price on your wicket? 8 for 49 runs is unacceptable.

T20 has completely ruined red ball batsmen.

when poms play cricket in aus.. the only thing that they have to complain about would be the scorching heat... when we play in ENG....

we have to worry about..... rude pom supporters and rain :expressionless:

So aside from Warner and Labuschagne the rest made 40-odd? Woooooooooo.......

England to score a billion and we’ll fold up like a cheap tent again in our second dig. Wade is potentially the new S Marsh. Centuries buried amongst failures.

We need this new bloke

The older you get the more negative you seem but that’s because you’ve got more to compare with. Really sad to see our top six unable to cope with testing conditions. What we would give for a Boon or a Wood or a Border right now. Greg Chappell’s rule was first 20 are scored between mid off and mid on. Need that philosophy now.

To be fair they look like they’re playing straight they just can’t find the right line. Neither of them has middled anything attacking or defending.

Yes that’s fair. I suppose I’m talking more generally in that we just don’t seem to be able to tough it through a good spell or trying conditions. You know - soft hands, leave heaps, look for singles etc

Yeah fair comment. Some of them just need to guard their stumps and leave the rest. Warner the opposite though. He needs to crank one through the covers or point and get moving. His line reading looks shot.

100%. His whole career has been built on dominance. Personally, I reckon his time out and subsequent criticism has knocked the stuffings out of him

And you know what Steve ...I actually thought that it would do more harm to Smith than Warner ....Warner and controversy could have been lovers

Ink ....I reckon this may have done his head in .....they were saying he hadn't been doing his usual routines and didn't even attempt to bat to see if he was OK

Yeah a good mate of mine felt exactly same. Shows what Smith is made of hey? I’d have him next to me in a defensive line!!

@Tiger_Steve we know he’s got a sturdy shoulder and arm now - could lay a shot or two on for all money. Shame he’s actually needed more in our batting lineup next inn.

Joe Root is having a shocking run. If England don't win the Ashes I can see him being replaced as captain. They're probably scanning Kane Williamson's family tree as we speak.
