Tait is the posterchild for the overrated sportsman. He is truely woeful, can't even pump out 10 overs in a day anymore. He sprays the ball everywhere, has no consisntency, no reliability and maintains his spot based on the fact he can bowl it a little faster than anyone else. He has his good days, but he has just as many absolute shockers too. We're better without him I think.

Tait exemplifies Australia's performance at the World Cup: Broken down, inconsistent and well past it's best.

Feel sorry for punter, he is a legend of Australian sport and has been belted from pillar to post by his countrymen and the scum bag media.

He showed in the semi of the WC that he still has the mettle to play significant innings at the top level. If we want the test side to bounce back, he has to be involved for two more years.

would love to see some changes to batting order imo 1
1 Katich
2 Marsh
3 Watson
4 Hussey
5 Ponting
6 Clarke
7 Haddin
If you make Watson captain don't want him opening batting but think he is better suited at 3 anyway

He should bat well down the order. I'd back him with my life to get to 50, but I wouldn't put a cent on him to make a 100\. Consistently good, but never brilliant. Play him at 6 or 7, where scores of 60-70 are more acceptable, and have players who can make the big hundreds opening the batting.

1\. Katich (Bring in Marsh when he retires)
2\. Hughes (worth persisting with, nobody scores 100s against the likes of Steyn and Morkel being a mug)
3\. Ponting (bring in Khawaja when he retires)
4\. Hussey (Bring in Ferguson when he retires)
5\. Clarke
6\. Watson (lower his batting workrate a little, and increase his bowling workrate)

Team for Bangladesh

Squad: Michael Clarke (capt), Shane Watson, Brad Haddin (wk), Ricky Ponting, Cameron White, Mike Hussey, Callum Ferguson, Tim Paine (wk), Steve Smith, Mitchell Johnson, John Hastings, Brett Lee, Xavier Doherty, James Pattinson.

No D. Hussey? and Cameron White's still there?? WTF srsly! and who's the VC? ponting, haddin or white??

Watson I hope !!! Why does Clarke even bother playing ODIs . The guy can barely get the ball off the square . I think we may soon see what depths Australian cricket can plummet to if that is the best ODI squad we can muster

I can live with no Dussey, he is hardly a world beater and he is getting on. Cameron White needs to change the W in his surname to an S and you'll have a good description of him, I'd would've tried to fit Shaun Marsh in there somewhere. I don't see what this squad will get out of a trip to Bangladesh apart from a series win that is expected.

Watson is the VC by the way. Not sure about that one, he's a decent player but a massive tool.

Ponting has retired. Probably for the better. I can't say it was an immediate death by media. Maybe a thousand knives. Either way, now is the right time for him to move on. Unfortunately we couldn't get the World Cup or the Ashes. He still wants to play international cricket though so his made the right move.

Clarke the next in line. Good luck to him.

Dave Hussey isnt touring because of family commitments, otherwise he would of been selected.

They probably would of been better off selecting some younger guys for this tour but I think if they dropped the likes of Lee and M Hussey, it would look as though they have been axed for good rather then just being rested for some young guys.

I'm sort of with Ian Chappell, it should be new captain, new team.

My opinion of the team for this tour: Anyone who won't make the 2015 WC should not be in the side, start trying and testing guys, see who is good and who isn't. By 2015 we should have a core group of 15-16 guys we use in one dayers, that can handle international cricket and will do us proud on home soil. We were blooding guys a while back for the recent cup, but they were never used there (Ferguson, Marsh, Hughes, Warner).

jazza, Ian chappel is a cancer on Australian cricket

I'd prefer to see Ricky concentrate his efforts on the test side. Having said that he is still an awesome ODI player…

Marsh was injured in there defence

IDK if anyone's still following the World Cup but it will be an India vs Sri Lanka final…

Pakistan threw the game away by dropping 4 catches, of no one but Tendulkar itself. And then their pacing in the middle overs cost them the game. Only positive for India will be that its bowling is starting to hit its straps now..

Can't wait for the final!!

The ICC certainly got the tournament they wanted. India and SL in the final, Pakistan in the semi-finals, Aus vs India in the quarters, no associates past the first round. I wonder how much money will have been made from the tournament…

Congratulations to Clarke on getting the top job. At the moment I have my doubts about whether he will be the right man for the job. It won't be easy to get Australia back on top.

So now we have the NSW premier and Aust cricket captain as Wests fans. Not a bad effort!

I have to agree I think he is a cancer as well.
He is like the Phil Gould of cricket, he has some agendas and when he makes a point he wont stop talking about it.
In saying that he has praised Ponting's captaincy in general so I don't think there are any agendas there unlike when Steve Waugh was captain… Probably because he beat out his mate Shane Warne.

Glad to see the fixers get done in the Semis. I can't believe a ball I watch from them anymore, it's ridiculous. Hopefully the Lankans give the Indians a proper thrashing in the final like we gave them in 03.

Agree, I hope Sri Lanka wins too

Would love to hear the silence go around Mumbai, I would feel sorry for Sachin but at the same time if India win the World Cup, if you think the BCCI are powerful enough now, I'd hate to think how powerful and also how cocky the Indians will be if they win this tournament on their own soil.
