Watson 185* off 96 balls with 15 4s and 15 6s.

Aust reached 1/232 with 24 overs to spare.

Does anyone find that remotely disturbing that he scored 81% of his runs in less than a third of the balls he faced?!

Should have batted first, he would have hit 250 on his own.

Must have been seeing them as beach balls!

Agree :slight_smile: although the pitches on some Indian pitches are like roads, Sachin still deserves to keep the record I think.

Have you seen the highlights of the Watson innings?? WoW!!!

His shots are full of power and his boundaries are pure class…

I don't think you can compare Watson to Tendulkar though, Tendulkar's shots are classy and with technique, I don't think he has hit many sixes in his career.

Didn't think we were going to get that far at one point. Good dig by Hussey, has plenty of people (myself included,) eating humble pie over whether his dash was done or not.

Not really a good start, but hopefully Copeland, Harris and Johnson can get a few early ones and really put the pressure on the Sri Lankans.

I still reckon Punter and Khawaja should have swapped spots in the batting order.

great bowling display today by the aussies in particular debutants Lyon and Copeland with Lyon picking up Sangakarra first ball and Copeland picking up Dilshan with his second no mean feet by either.
Bowling them out for 105 with Lyon ending up with 5 and watson 3

Fantastic effort by Lyon. 5-34 off 15\. Picking up Sangakkara first ball of your Test career would be a confidence booster as well.

How about the outfield there at Galle? Isn't it woeful?

Its probably normal for subcontinental standards, the West Indian outfields are the worst!

Great stuff by Lyon, I know 4 of those wickets are tailenders but thats what a spinner is meant to do!
Hopefully he doesnt get the Krezja or Casson treatment.
