What is bazball?

The Pom’s coach is Brendon McCallum the x kiwi opener/keeper who‘s nickname was “Baz”. He decided the best way to play test cricket was all out attack and always play for a result and although you might not always win and you will end up with a lot more wins .

So far he has been right the Poms under his coaching and Stokes captaincy has been winning at about 80%. Good to watch and plenty of left field tactic . Be interesting how it goes in Australia when the Poms next visit on faster wickets. Can’t see Joe Root going for a lap shot first ball at the Gabba

Probably the best game of cricket i have seen in many years.A lot of grit and determination shown.Time to go and snore my head off

That last hour of play, where we were crawling towards the target whilst they were throwing everything at us was as intense a sporting event as you are likely to see all year…and there’s still 4 more to go.

Good first session for the Aussies, had some luck, but you would take one for 70 odd after been sent in every day of the week.

Warner has looked good but Usman struggled his whole innings. Important they consolidate in the second session.

At lunch Usman had faced the same amount of balls for about 1/4 of the runs Warner had scored. Both did it tough but Davey still kept the scoreboard ticking over.
We know England will aggressively chase whatever target we set them. Must consolidate starts like Warner has had and turn it into a big century. Marnus is clearly struggling out there edging a ball already as Usman and Dave both did.
Batting not easy at all.

Haha that was great. He picked him up and carried him all the way to the boundary and handed him to the coppers 🤣.

Smith has come out with an aggressive mindset.
It’s an interesting approach to this attack which has the ball cutting and swinging everywhere.
Marnus still struggling but trying to tough it out.

I reckon he is struggling. Giving a lot of opportunities to them.
He is fighting hard to get on top though.
Good contest there.
Smith looks untroubled by comparrison.

Excellent performance after being put in to bat,only 5 wickets down at the end of play even though the last 2 were thrown away.We played it as a test should be played and just grind the English out of the game.Hopefully we can get to 500+ and declare late tomorrow.Smith certainly looked like he wants a big score

Very good day 1 from Australia.
Those who played aggressively have scored well. The English Bazball will work also so we need a big score on day 2. Shame to lose Head and Green but Smith, Carey and the bowlers can get us up over 400.

Green has to work on his starts. That’s two in a row where he’s gone early. But 5 for almost 350 is a good result after being sent in. Hopefully Smith tons up tonight.
