India are just useless and have no backbone whatsoever. Australia aren't as good as India are making them look. In the last 12 months India have been clean swept by SA and England, and its looking like a cleansweep atm. Don't be fooled into thinking the Aussies are back to their old ways, because India are just terrible. They only just mangaged to beat the Windies at home

That is very harsh on the Aussies mate. They have dominated a very strong batting line up with the ball and scored a lot of runs with the bat.

I agree with your assement of Hadds but Ricky and Huss have been great and deserve to press on. The Aussies are on their way back up. Enjoy the ride…dont knock what has been an incredible effort.

...and its all over in less than 2.5 days. Well done to all.

The fact that Ponting and Hussey will almost be 40 yrs old. The Sydney Test seems to have lulled a lot of people into a false sense of security over that pair. All they did was buy themselves another day against a pathetic attack. The Ashes is 18 months away. Thats a long time for a batsman in his late 30's.

No, lets be honest. They are dominating a batting line-up that is a shadow of of what they use to be. A batting line-up thats getting dominated by almost everyone these days, not just Australia. If you go back far enough in this thread, i predicted India's batsman would fail

I'm not saying that they should go but they will be around the same age as Sachin and Dravid.

Whats ridiculous is calling for their heads when they have been playing so well. If anyone should get the arse it should be your mate Marsh who needs to go back to state level ala Hughes and Kawaja and work on his technique.

Hussey was our best bat in the Ashes, MOM in all 3 matched against Sri Lanka, had 4 bad tests (7 innings) and this series has averaged 80!

After being a awesome for years before that, it is more than 1 score in 1 test.

The Aussies have bowled super! They have maintained pressure with great lines, they have swung the ball and moved it off the seam all series.
Give credit where credit is due!

What bat will Pup have in tomorrows test?
Kooka?

Have a feeling he will be using a Spartan…

Yeh bloke at work on Fri mentioned he'd agreed to a deal with them…note he still has a clean bat

He'll have his brand name next test (marketed and distributed by Sparten)

good luck to him

His bat will still be made from his current bat maker with the use of the spartan stickers. Its a well known fact there are only 3 or 4 bat makers around and the players just put their sponsors stickers on them.

Spartan has already signed Mitchell Johnson to use their cricket brand but also have our own Benji Marshall and tigers supporter and boxer Daniel Geale promoting their gear.

How good a job is Craig McDermott doing? To me he is the unsung hero of our revival. He's turned some promising very good bowlers into world class test performers and resurrected guys like Hilfenhaus who looked like they were gone. Fantastic lines, well thought out plans, good lengths.

If CA have any brains they'll be signing him up long-term

If his building business hadn't gone belly up big time I don't think we would of seen him in the role

True. Apart from the people who lost their cash it worked out ago for everyone!

I see Dhoni has recieved a one test match ban for slow over rates in the Perth Test

Sehwag will now be skipper

It will be interesting to see what side India select. Seeing as though they need to bring a new keeper it will be interesting to see what other changes are made. Obviously Ashwin or another spinner will come in. They really need to dump Laxman and Dravid must be coming close to being tapped on the shoulder. People talk about Australia's problems with knowing when to move the old guard on but India have the same issue in bucketloads. The one highlight has been Kohli making some runs.

I heard Micky Arthur say he "had full confidence in Brad Haddin"
I think this is the cricket version of "he has the full support of the board"

I expect to see Haddin get the axe or retire after Adelaide.

I think that Hussey is still offering plenty, he has been our leading runscorer each of the last 2 years, and is still going nicely.

Jury is out on Ponting, he is finding a way and has been pretty consistent over the last 8 tests or so, but he hasn't really been himself. Problem is no one is knocking down the door with mountains of runs at shield level.

i think a problem could be they dont play shield cricket while the tests are being played in australia. theyre playing T20 which is good for the fans and all but with the lack of games in sheild cricket it doesnt help the test squad.

i read today they are looking to have the shield comp on in the off season from say august - november then start back up again in march to may when they're are no tests played in order to expand BBL which really isnt as important as tests but will allow more games to be played so could work

I read that article as well, whilst I am not a big 20/20 fan, if they are going to expand it and start the Shield in August, I would prefer to see the Shield played right through to its conclusion and have the BBL once its finished. E.g Play the Shield from August to early January and play the BBL from January to late February.

That way it coincides with the Test matches being played, and then when the BBL starts, it coincides with the ODI's being played.

I've heard some commentators say "No batsman has been scoring enough runs to play in the National side", well to me it doesn't help that the BBL is played right at the peak of the Test match period.

The only thing is CA may not want the BBL played that late because it could be affected by the buildup of the footy seasons, particularly in Melbourne, which could lower interest. And also the TV networks may not be as interested because they want something to fill their Summer slots. I know channel 9 doesnt show the BBL but in the future they could show interest which could increase the bidding $$$, this may not happen if its not over the Summer period.

I couldn't really care less how the BBL is formatted as long as it doesn't affect the Test side, although I will say I don't think more teams should come in because I think the talent pool in the BBL is diluted enough as it is.

Hard to keep up with the over rates when you're chasing the ball to the fence every second delivery :smiling_imp:

The BBL over th christmas period has been an unbridled success, i believe to move it away from that period would be a mistake. The financial success of the BBL is helping to fund the state programs.

Even know there is no shield cricket on at the momment, when it was being played, no batsman were scoring loads of runs to force there way in.

The batsman that have been getting runs at state level are all the older players (Klinger, D Hussey, Hodge in short forms). The blokes next in line have about 5 first class tonnes each.

Was really surprised that the Indians didn't try and follow up the short balls at Warner when they tonged him on the head in the last session on the first day

Honestly the Indians bowling attack has not bent its back to try and get the ball lift from a good length

Sharma in particular is up over the 140 kph and the ball just seemed to balloon through to the keeper

Really disappointed in the Indians really thought they would play well this series in Australia and yet again they have failed to take their home form overseas How they are still ranked No 2 in the world astounds me :crazy
