Cricket Season Thread

Been a crazy month in Test cricket. NZ sweep India in India. India come to Australia and belt the Aussies in the first Test. NZ go home and lose to the Pom’s by 8 wickets.

A lot of talk about our batting for Adelaide but also after rewatching Day 1 and 2 Minis I noticed problem with our bowling Involving Cummins and Lyon
India were 6-79 and looking unlikely to pass 100 .
Early Starc and Hazo had them under extreme pressure but Pat was like a pressure release going at 4 an over which I expected because of his long lay off and lack of preparation
I think and hope he's now match ready and back to his best as without Hazo it is essential .Note Lyon not looking very dangerous lately

Sam Konstas has to be pushing for a spot after his recent performance. I would like to see him open and push McSweeny to 3. I'm not sure if we will see it in Adelaide though as I expect they will pick and stick; seems to be their way. The only change I expect is Boland in for Hazo

I don't think Konstas should be pushed up too soon. He's played 10 first class matches and averages less than 40. I think Bumrah would terrorise him. Another year and if he continues to develop he should be ready. Reckon Boland will be leading Australian wicket-taker in Adelaide.

I think its more of a case that does Konstas have that special hand eye talent and youthful reflexes or not ? If he does I'd risk it
If we go 2-0 down in this series then there is no coming back from that
ATM McSweeney ,Labuschagne and Smith seem to be jumping around like deer caught in the headlights .
Only Head and Marsh and Carey stay legside of the ball and try and belt it
Konstas technique similar to those 3

India's last trip to Australia just looking at the first 2 tests .We had scores
of 191
2-90
195
200
Nothing to get excited about
Smith had scores of 1 ,0 ,8
In between times not that great either with many many top order collapses
Point is our batting is very fragile disguised by a few brilliant knocks by Travis Head and the odd one from Mitch Marsh and Uzzie loving the SCG
Our policy has always been pick and stick and as such our selectors are probably slow to react to waning talent
I can only hope that all these extra net sessions in Adelaide will make our top order find that form that's been missing a while now

Lets face it winning a test series against India is not that easy
The last series we won was 2014/15 season .Yes 10 years ago
We won that 4 test series 2-0
Since then we have lost 4 consecutive series 2-1 with 2 of these in India and 2 of these in Australia .
To win in Adelaide we need Cummins to be back to his best as he was obviously short of a gallop in Perth
We also need our top 4 to find lost form as we seem to rely on 5-7 to dig us out of a hole too often . Lyon finding a bit of " fizz " with the ball would help also

That’s nothing. The Aussies haven’t won an Ashes series in England since 2001. Nearly 25 years ago.
Maybe but 4-0 in Australia trumps 2-2 in England and I dare say the total test count over the 25 years heavily favours us
Against India losing 4 in a row home and away is imposing

The last test we played India before this Perth test was the 4th test in Ahmenabad .We batted first and got 480 with Kwajaja getting 180 and Green getting 114 .
So Uzzie can do it ! Please do it again
Cameron Green out injured which is unfortunate
The previous test to this we won by 9 wickets but the pitch in Indore was a rank turner with Lyon getting 11 wickets but we don't have wickets like this in Australia so I consider this Indore 3rd test irrelevant

I can't believe we are favourites to win this Test with the bookies ...we are 1.80 ...India are 2.15

IMO -The ICC lack credibility
Most observers feel that India is the real powerhouse
Making the ICC answer to the BCCI
Looking at the current WTC table there is a huge difference in points deducted for slow over rates
England minus 22 pts
Australia minus 10 pts
India minus 2 pts
Of course if we don't win 4 out of our remaining 6 tests ( 4 -India 2-Sri Lanka )
It won't matter anyway

The value of a partnership ! The 5th wicket
England 2nd test vs NZ
England all out 10/280
Brooks + Pope + extras 196
Other 9 batsmen 84 between them !

Perfect start Starc gets Jaiswal first ball of the match but since Boland gets wicket off a no ball and Kwajaja drops 1
Only 5 balls would have hit the stumps
3 from Starc 2 from Boland and 0 from Cummins
Now Lyon on pressure off !

Thank God for Starc now 3-27
Difference is 144kph vs 136 kph
